Never heard that before, I thought the song was all about her mother.
Prince wrote and recorded the song, Sinead O'Connor covered it. He wasn't a fan of her version. Made her name though.

Last night I watched his full interview with Jacob Bronowski.
A very thoughtful man, but the bit where he was discussing IQ and race would have him cancelled these days. I'm surprised the powers that be at the BBC let it go on iPlayer.
