Can you get your account blackballed at your own behest?

Not just your account, but your actual historical post content.

Would your posts and profile still exist and be readable or would they appear blank if you closed an account?

Is it possible to remove the posts and account info so that nothing actually appears?

I suppose you could request for your account to be removed completely rather than just closed and as such all history would go with it, why, you had enough :mmm:

So if it was removed rather than closed the posting history would disappear?

Ta much. :)

I did say "I suppose", I obviously don't 100% know but I would "assume" that a closed account is just that and all information can still be read but a removed account has nothing to link to, just throwing balls in the air basically and thinking logically, are you going somewhere?

Yeah. Had enough. Spend to much time browsing tbf. I just wondered how to do it in such a way that everything is removed. Wasn't sure if it could be done or not.

PM one of the mods, they know what can be done, PhilTheFragger is a computer man.

Enjoyed a lot of your posts and banter, sorry to see you go, all the best.

Why do you want everything removed, others that have been blackballed permanently can still be seen and read, why the whole 9 yards, you might feel different after a sabbatical?

Cheers.

If a mod (not a scooter riding one btw) is looking in can you do the necessary please. Thanks.

Not sure if Fragger is a sight to see on a scooter :D

Shame to see you go.

Removing posts would cause some threads to be impossible to follow, and other threads to be removed completely.

Why not just stop logging in and posting? Is there really any point in removing everything?

Pretty sure the database would leave threads/posts by deleted users by default. As for removing everything.....sure it's possible, but I would guess would depend on the T&C's we all signed up to when we joined as to whether you have the right to have them removed. As others have mentioned it creates continuity/integrity problems.....then there's your posts that have been quoted in others etc. Can get complicated.

I believe the alternative to removing the whole content is to remove the username but leave the posts allocated as guest (or something else nondescript) ... can't remember if it was done on this forum but I've seen it done on other bulletin sites. Allows the threads and posts to remain and still make sense.

Depends I guess on how the account is closed. If I do a searcg on google, I can still find posts I made when I was an active member of a VW Golf forum many many years ago, the posts are still there in the ether.

I guess the same would apply to this forum as well, unless the powers that be expunge you and all your postings from the DB, not sure if that would be possible.

Surprised you can't find the ones on the Model 'T' forum....:ears:
