Best golf shoes for season ahead - what do you recommend.

It's very subtle, but the samba golf shoe has:
  • A thicker midsole, there is more cushioning in there to make it fit for purpose for long walks
  • More grip on the sole, the tread pattern has much deeper lugs
  • Material on the upper looks a little different, I'm guessing this is to provide a higher level resistance to water (or it could just be a different style)
I have no problem with people wearing regular trainers for golf. Personally, I wear trainers to the range or to practise, but out on the course I've found shoes purposefully designed for golf provide me better grip when swinging, and keep my feet dry when walking in wet rough .
All fair - the only difference I typically notice is the sole and the better tread for grip. But if someone has got a pair of trainers they love, that are comfortable with decent grip, I don't think any pro shop would notice or care if they wore them to play in these days.

I’ve had 2 pairs of the adidas code chaos, they’re very comfy, plenty of support and cushioning. However, they’ve only lasted around 1 year (I play every week, wore them maybe 75% of the time), the soles have cracked both times. Also, because they’re waterproof and snug fitting, they stink after a few months! The first pair were in the kitchen overnight, came down and thought the cats had done their business everywhere, very bad urine smell. Turns out it was the shoes, the same thing happened with the second pair. I’ve never had smelly feet or shoes.

Saying all that, if they were on sale when I was looking and I needed a comfy pair for spring to autumn, I’d probably buy them again.

Just grab some of this, it does wonders: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Scholl-Fresh-Step-Spray-150ml/dp/B00BG69ACG

Yep, been through a few cans of that, doesn’t help! Honestly, never known a smell like it.
Got to pull the insoles out and let them and the shoes dry out naturally. And never wear the same pair 2 days running.
Plus Adidas insoles are always 💩; much better to switch them out for Grangers or even old Footjoy insoles.

Code chaos are great apart from a nightmare to keep clean 😖

I'm amazed Sketchers get a mention. I don't know anyone who has had them has got any life out of them. They either split, crack or the sole detaches. They used to be sold in the club shop, but they had to send so many back they stopped doing them.

What's the arch support in the codechaos like ?
I have a pair of Adidas terrex which are my normal walking shoes and they tend not to cause a PF flare up, so considering trying Adidas golf shoes.
Unfortunately local AG doesn't stock to try them

The insoles in each of the 3 pairs of Adidas golf shoes I've owned have just been thin and completely flat. First thing I do is pull them out and replace them with decent Granger insoles.

If you want good arch support, try New Balance. Picked up a pair in AG a few weeks ago, I have terrible flat feet from years of what I do for a living my feet take a battering.

The NB unbelievably light , really soft underfoot with great arch and heel support. Literally like wearing slippers or dare I say it Crocs!! Great pair of shoes already lining up a winter pair.

My mate has PF and he finds Adidas Tour 360's to be the best option.
