I’m after a very comfortable shoe for the warm and dry season ahead (not fussed on them being waterproof)

I’ve gone through countless pairs of Adidas (awful) Nike (awful) Under Armour (not bad) and Puma (probably the best so far).

I think it’s about time I tried something else. Always gone with ‘style’ over anything but seems like I get through them quicker than I should.

Any recommendations appreciated

If you want (imo) comfy shoes that are a bit different from the norm, have a look at GFore. I have a pair of the spikeless ones and very happy with them.

will depend on what style you want

Cost
Comfortable
Stability
Spikes or spikeless

For the summer

FJ Pro SL are very good , more stable

Best shoes I got last year

FJ Quantum

Skechers usually but I bought some Mizuno shoes in a sale in the summer and they are super comfy too.

Also had poor experience with the sportier brands. My Footjoy traditions have been best in all weather. Unlined leather inside so none of the issues with lining wearing through or crumbling and less sweaty than trainer style shoes.
My current 2 pairs are 4 years old and have outlived any others I've bought since.

I've found UA to be of good quality and comfy. Wore a new pair straight out of the box on the weekend and they were excellent.
Hovr fade 2 spikeless

Skechers have worked well for me in last couple of pairs I've bought, the fit seems to suit my foot. Will give under armour a try this year too I think, they can be found at a decent price as well which is a plus.
Always found Adidas and footjoy fairly tight fitting for me

I think this proves that shoes are very individual. I can wear boost 360 tours straight from the box and they fit perfectly, but Pro SL’s always cause me a blister on the pad of my 2 toe on both feet and I’ve never had that from any other brand.

Given you’ll be walking 5-7 miles per day in these, I’d always say try a few brands/models on and find one that fits right. I’ve had boost 360’s for the last 5-6 years with no issues at all, I only purchased the pro sl’s when they dropped the 360’s but switch straight back once they bought them back into production.

I wore my FJ pro sl’s the most last year. Not only were they comfortable and waterproof but I find them to be very stable on sidehills etc. You MUST go somewhere that can check sizing however. I thought I was a normal 9 and I wasn’t.

This year I’ve gone for some Ecco Biom C4. Have only worn them around the house so far but wow, they’re really comfortable!

I'm using the Puma GS-Fast as my main summer shoe at the moment. It's very comfortable and stable, and is leather so at least partially waterproof if you get a shower (always a consideration all year round in England nowadays). A lot of the summer shoes seem to be the mesh type, but you can only wear them if there's zero chance of rain then.

The Nike and Under Armour shoes I've had recently were too narrow and became uncomfortable to walk in after a while. Skechers are very comfortable but they fall apart inside a year. FootJoy I haven't tried for a while - the last pair I had wasn't as good quality-wise as I expected - but they do have some nice summer offerings now. I find their sizing weird, I had to go down to a 9 for them when I'm normally a 10. Skechers similar actually, I'm 9.5 in them.

I absolutely swear by Eccos for winter shoes, but it's funny, I just don't like the styling on their summer ones. But I'm certain they would be very comfortable and great quality just as their winter shoes are.

I think it really is a "what works for you" thing. Nike lunar 2's i liked so much i bought 4 pairs, Foot Joys are pretty sound and although i dont like what they did with the BOA on the latest models. Adidas look fantastic but the heels wear through so quickly.

A massive thing for me has been buying waterproof socks. So if weather is potentially bad I'll throw them on, or playing in early morning dew. As a result even shoes with semi questionable water proofing do the job. I know it's in a roundabout way but it's definitely a plus knowing feet will be dry no matter what the weather. Before i'd always be trying to make sure i'd a good waterproof pair, probably spending a nice bit extra too as a result.
Now I'm happy once the fit is good and comfortable, waterproofing isn't the biggest issue for me now and has opened up a lot more options as a result.
I'd find having 2/3 pairs and rotating them is good too so you're not wearing the same shoes every round and wearing them away quickly as a result

I'm a long term Footjoy man, but wanted something more 'trendy' and bought aq couple of paits of J Lindeberg and wow, all day comfort.

That said, tough to keep looking good and for the price, probably not worth it, so a pair of Duca del Cosma at home to test.

I bought two pairs of Nike Air Jordan low's for a trip abroad, which didm't materialise, so jet to test them out.

The later stuff have leather(ish) stuff in the heel which replaces the older material. They’ve been a lot better since the change.

I’ve tried quite a few brands footjoy and under armour I would say are the best golf brands. I do like the Jordan lows but only for summer in dry days. Winter I use columbia trail shoes fully waterproof and so much better than any golf shoe I’ve tried.

I have just ordered a pair of Payntr’s 001’s, on sale at only £60 plus postage, the reviews a very good, we will have to wait and see .
