I'm new to owning an electric trolley and I've got a brand new TPower Golf Plus battery with my trolley but I don't know what I can realistically get out of it?

There is nothing written on the battery but looking at the site it looks like a TP34-12, it would seem there are 2 capacity categories, 22 ah & 34 ah, what do these mean?

How do I or would I know if I have got a 18 or 36 hole battery? My trolley was bought secondhand but the battery was bought new by the seller and all I know is it cost £47 and looks like described above!

If I do have an 18 hole battery, does anyone have any good links to where I can purchase a good 36 hole battery from?

Correction, now looks more like the TP26-12

as duncan says if its a 26ah battery then its designed for 27 holes, it is brand new it will almost certainly get you round 36 holes on your track in summer conditions.

does your trolley not have a battery measure on it? my golfstream if i press the main switch in it gives me a battery % remaining, really useful in knowing if the battery will last more than 18 holes and also an early warning for when a battery is near the end of its life

personally bought an 18 hole lithium one recently, im using no more than 10% for 18 holes so it would easily do 36 and probably plenty more, trolley uses far less battery in these dry firm conditions thats for sure

26 should get you 27 holes on most courses - 34 would deliver 36 holes on anything but the most demanding ones

Just trawled the TPower site and when looking for a 36 hole battery, the extended 36 hole version is indeed the TP26 ah :mmm:

I've got 2 lights on my handle, I think as 1 fades its telling me my usage, haven't really looked into it to be honest, an indicator is there in some form though.

Right, it would seem you guys were right, I have had a few messages go back & forth through the TPower site and they are saying that the TP26 is an 18 hole battery which when new would stretch to 27 at best, the TP34 would be OK for 36 holes but at no time within their site do they reference to this model?

Where can you get a decent but cheap 36 hole battery from?

Not sure I would, think Id buy another 18 hole battery, alternate them in normal use and have both charged and in the boot for when you play 36. Problem I found with 36 hole battery when only playing 36 very rarely is it never gets to discharge properly and this doesnt help the longevity of the battery. oh and id try and stretch to lithium if you can

Never really considered that, I know if you don't run things down you can burn them out so another 18 hole battery it is, now to look for some deals, not sure about lithium, what are the advantages of them?

PS, did you get my Twitter DM?

Completely agree the 2x18 from that starting point.

Lead acid doesn't benefit from discharge cycles - none of them will fully discharge with a trolley anyhow as they are designed to cut out when the voltage drops to (normally) 11.8

The key to longevity is getting them back on charge asap and charging fully.

Nope - no message received.?

Lithium will last longer is lighter and will charge in around 1/3 of the time. It costs about 4 X.

That was aimed at Steve ;)

Couldn't justify the lithium personally, once in a routine of alternating the 2 batteries that will do me fine.

Thanks for all the input guys

I rarely play 36 in one day but have a 36 hole battery. I just don't charge it between my 2 weekend rounds.

If you want a decent priced Lithium battery, I bought a 36 hole one from Liberty Batteries for £179. I should write them a review. No sign of needing charge after 36 holes, whether that's a 4 x 9 holes or 2 x 18, I only recharge it after 27 or 36 but not had a charge warning light appear on the trolley at all - it ran round both Sunningdale courses on the same day with no loss of power.
