So Tash has got his head around getting some new Irons and then a driver. The irons I am looking for are Ping G430 and the driver was a Ping G430. Be it a max or sft.
However. A Pp played with a new driver today a Titliest TSR2. His ball flight and distance was very very good. Anyway on the last hole he let me have a go and although it was not the cleanest hit it went as straight as an arrow and as long as I usually hit my Ping G 410. The first impression was, that was quick off the face. It just seemed there was quicker ball speed. Is that possible 😳. The flight was a bit lower ( I hit it off a white tee as he suggested) but the run out was far better. Now I am well aware of first impression etc etc but does anyone have a TSR2 and how do you find it be it good or bad.
This is my dilemma. The guy who let me hit his had a go with another PP same club, which is why he bought his TSR2. But the other PP looks like he is selling his and wants around £250.
He is going to let me know next Thursday, and if he wants to get rid I can have a go on the range. The grip is my size and it’s a regular shaft which is my speed.
I initially wanted irons then driver, but this could be a good opportunity to buy
Decisions decisions. Thoughts me dears.

I think the consensus is that the TSR2 has a bit more ball speed so is a few yards longer but the G430 is more forgiving and the dispersion is tighter....
Ping always say they won't be the longest but will be the longest overall because you'll keep more shots kn the fairway and thus longer than ones that hit the rough..
On a bad swing day I'd rather have the G in my hand rather than the T.

I doubt you get any gain from your g410 with a g430.
The sft is the highest spin version so might not go far, especially into the wind.
Getting properly fit is worthwhile, even essential.

I did - that was exactly the upgrade I made and the new one is noticeably longer. At least 10 yards I would say.

That will be due to it fitting you better rather than the driver itself I would say.
Out of the middle there won't be a lot in it but from off centre hits..and let's face it that's where we all normally make contact....the 430 is streets ahead in ball speed retention compared to the 410 which, as far as I'm concerned, wasn't as good as the 400
That's where the consistently longer shots come from..

Part of my problem is this, I have read the reviews and the Titliest was better by 10 yards going up against the 430. But as I said I didn’t quite catch it so it was a good result from an off centre hit. But would It be the same with the Ping 430. Reading your post suggests it really would. 👍

I traded my 430 for a GT 2, significantly better not only in the fitting but also from a series of studio sessions using the demo at the correct spec vs my 430 and so far on the course.
Also a mate has been trialling the GT3 vs his TSR, so far a distinct improvement.

I've always found Ping drivers to be slow but forgiving. I demo'd the 430 10k extensively last year and it was a consistent 10-15y behind my driver at the time

I was fitted at Titleist for the new GT3 driver and couldn't be happier as it's brought my spin down to a decent window which has given some more distance.

On one of the YouTube comparison tables, it showed the spin rate was well down on the Titliest compèred to the Ping. But to be honest, I didn’t have a clue what that meant. What is chewing me up is I like and have the Ping G 430 3,5,7 woods and just thought the 430 driver would sit nice with them. Bottom line though is performance.

The new G440 is better when it comes to ball speed off the face with keeping the forgiveness. Generally ping sacrifice distance to keep the ball in play!

I have read that. But the massive problem for me is £250 v excess of £500 😖
