Sorry - you misunderstood me there homer. We can only book ourself plus one other in the one tee time. My mention of the WhatsApp group was simply where I found out that it only took 4mins for all tee times to be taken and others had failed also. Back in the day it was well advertised that our sat am roll up went off from 10:30 and usually all off by 11:15. But that informal reservation and all other such reservations other than ladies Tuesday morning slot have been cancelled.

Any club introducing a tee booking system experiences a few teething problems initially as god forbid, the members panic that they can't book 'their normal tee time' and play with their mates. This situation we are in is obviously far from the norm so it will to be chaotic, give it a few weeks.

With regard to your 'informal' tee reservation from 10.30 to 11.15, I bet the general membership loves that, premium day yet there is a block booking mid morning. That is the beauty of a booking system, it gives everyone a chance to play the 10-30 slot rather than rock up at the club to find a huge group standing around waiting to play.

Roll ups are great for the clique, not great for everyone else. I bet there are a good few chuckles around the country at clubs where other members are finally being able to get out and play during those 'golden' slots ?

Just wait for the ‘they are the life-blood of the club’ reply and they have a right for their regular slot....

And the rationale behind the Ladies Tuesday morning being retained when all else is cancelled is?

As yet, the ladies blocked times have not been reinstated. I wouldn't expect them to be as long as all tee times are required to satisfy demand of all the members.
As long as main Clubhouse remains closed, I don't see any advantage of restoring the ladies morning as there will be no socialising with anyone other than your playing partner

I don't know why it should be retained. See my comment above
Women can still play with others just by booking a slot along with everyone else.
(I'm female BTW)

I think a lot depends on the members TBH. We don't normally have tee times at all, and whilst most people know when the few groups collect and get in line it's not really an issue. Not when you compare it to currently, with 2 balls and tee times only. The reservations open 7 days in advance at 9am every day now, and next saturday was fully booked up this morning at 9:03, and thats times from 6am to 6:30pm for 18 holes.

It isn’t a block booking. We don’t have tee booking in normal times. Anyone can join our roll up and many new members are pointed to it as an excellent introduction to a load of members. If you don’t want to play in the roll up you just get to the tee before 10:30 or stand by the first tee and play after those already there have gone. And we don’t all go to the tee at the same time. Maybe only first 3 groups. It works well. If there is one thing our sat am roll up is NOT then that is a clique. In fact it could not be more varied and all accomodating.

Currently with 2 balls the course is effectively half capacity and golfers have been starved of a game for weeks. It will settle down.

Great for those who are limited for time, rock up at the club to find a big group waiting to play so have to stand around for an hour or two.

As Lord Tyrion says great for the clique.

We are allowing visitors on our 9 hole course for 9 holes only. Payment must be made in advance and booked via the website

We never allow visitors at weekends or before 9.30am on the 18 hole course even in 'normal' times

I doubt it, as it's not even half capacity. Normally you go out in generally 3 or 4 balls off either the first or 10th, and go as soon as the group in front are out of range. With us currently being 2 balls and only every 10 minutes and off the 1st only that gives 63 tee itmes per day, or only enough for 126 members out of a totaly eligible membership of 617.

Are the club asking those that can play midweek to do that or is it a free for all?

5 day members can book monday to friday, 7 day can book to play any day. Its booking through the website with a couple of times each day held back for phone bookings through the office for those with no net access. You can book up to 7 days in advance, with the bookings open at 9am each morning. You are not allowed more than 3 games in any 7 rolling day period.

I suspect it will settle down after the initial mad scramble, some people may not have played since last year.

I may be wrong on this as my course is not rammed by all accounts but we normally have a large number of visitors that makes it busy, especially midweek

It’s never a clique when you’re part of it and it suits your needs.

Where's the problem?

As SilH has said it isn't a closed shop, open to all members.

It strikes me that it is the others who just want to play with the same few each week that are trying to form a clique.
