Last years main goal was to have more birdies than double bogies in competition.

Ended up with 6 birdies more than doubles.

Only good things can come from this. :)
Like this.
I was just thinking a goal for me would likely be to make more birdies, when playing well I can be a bit steady - safe areas, lag putting.

Did you count triples as doubles or just exclude them? ??

HDID count all those muck ups as doubles or worse. ;)

1. Break 90 ... current best 93
2. Improve my course management and shot selection
3. Stop my handicap from slowly going the wrong way

having a short game lesson to get up-and-down more often
being healthy enough to play all year round
acquire a power trolley which may help to achieve the former
enjoying my rounds more when the score is higher than hoped for

Similar to mine but I am aiming to play 9 holes in 50.
Well with a slightly woozy head from the red wine last night and not feeling 100% due to staying up to watch the superbowl I managed to do the back 9 in 50. I suppose my new target should be front 9 in 50.

I had great plans for my golf in 2020 and I had the following goals-

Handicap at 5.4 or less (current 6.8)
  • Practice at range once a week.
  • Practice putting in puttout 3 times a week
  • Play 5 Different courses
  • Play at least 26 rounds
  • Record all stats
  • Analysis of stats to focus practice
  • Use trackman at least every 6 months include combined test.
  • Average under 32 putts per round
  • Play 2 county events
  • Enter scratch & handicap singles.
  • Enter national match play
  • Reduce 3 putts to under 10%
  • Hit at least 45% of fairways
  • Hit at least 50% of greens.

However after suffering a stroke on New Year’s Eve my goals have changed slightly to now just completing 18 holes!

Goal is to try and dedicate 1 hour of time each week to practice. From at least when the clocks change, ideally a few weeks before.
Got to be realistic and I'm not going to murder myself if it's sideways rain and the practice ground is mud.

Focus will be on short game. Wedges from 100 yards and in. Around the Greens. Putting.

Try and measure success in each session by no. of successful shots. Come up with some kind of skill tests that I can keep track of results during sessions and monitor progress.

Don't really get that people say - goal is to get 3 shots off my handicap.
Ok, how are you going to do that?
And when you get there... what next?

I got a big chop down to 17.9 last year, and feel that short game is undoubtedly letting me down.
So follow my process above and see where that takes me.

It's the third of February and I still haven't scored a single goal, yet.
I don't mean this year.
I mean since the late forties.
Don't spread it around, but I don't even have a proper pair of boots.

Seriously, my goal for the coming season is to continue having fun with my friends at the club, and to get through the entire 2020 season without going into back spasms and having to take a single oxycodone tablet. That would be huge for me. If I don't break 80 once all season but have a good time, I'm good with that.

For me, 2020 has to be the year I get back out playing regular again. Health issues over the last 5 years have really taken its toll and 2019 was my worst year yet. however, Im back as a member at the club, back in work and feeling positive. Just need to take it steady and get out there again.

Sorry to hear that. Hope the doctors and rehab teams can get you out there again at some point
