Tee colours challenge

Is it a lot of work to rate all tees for men and women or is it now just a computer exercise?
They have to be rated every 10 years physically and its done with two separate teams - the more tees to rate the more time it takes (all volunteers).

Two teams, why two? I'd think one team could do it all, then the computer generates the ratings.

Two different sets of measures, it would take one team ages to do it for both genders which would increase disruption for the course.

It will be the overall length of the course that normally means that it is considered outside the parameters. This usually means that there is almost no likelihood of competitions ever being played off that tee set.
We are not long off whites…6519yds

There are several things exactly the same, eg, green size, bunker coverage around greens, rough cut, green speed, elevation change. Imo, one team could do it all, and if they do the back nine first or go backwards on the course, it's minimal disruption. It's only data collection on the course. And yes, I have done ratings!

Great that”s fine as it’s your opinion, I don’t share it from my experiences.
The elements that are common that you mention, we in fact share between the two teams with for example one team doing the greens on the first nine the other doing the back nine. With all the different measuring points and one team doing all the shared measurements, it would take considerably longer or more people ( which sort of defeats the object).

Thinking why our course off White tees falls outside the parameters for Ladies course…all I can think of is that there are a few (perhaps many?) holes where off the whites the carry to the fairway is significant, and at my place most ladies would not be able to reach the fairway. Is there such a ‘carry to fairway’ parameter/constraint for Ladies.
That must be the case for some of the men as well.?

Are you in the US? You have a lot of options that are not available to most club members in the UK. At this time of the year, we only have 2 options and in reality we have one as there would be hell on if we played off the red, ladies tees. We don't have free reign to play off those.

I like what you do, it sounds fun. Just not likely to be an option for most members over here.
We have 5 tees rated for men & 3 for women. It's only the very short Greens that I haven't played from.

We have four sets
Whites ,yellow, red ,blue.

We have two women who play the comps off whites 6500 yds both are county players and hit it miles.
Have played with them it’s very good to watch them.

Why would this be the case…and hell?…and the very fact you refer to the reds as ladies tees shows why it is sensible to de-genderise (if there be such a term) tees. If you struggle off longer tees in winter especially, then you should be able, with no stigma attached, to play off a forward tee. And if that’s a red then so be it.

We sometimes play a game using the reds, yellows and whites where we start on the yellows.
If you birdie a hole you move back a tee, bogey you move forward for the next hole.

If you move forward you either have to birdie the next hole or par the next two to get back to the yellows.

If you’re on the yellows you either birdie or need to par three in a row to move to the whites.

Off the whites it’s just about trying to par or birdie to stay where you are.

Then see how many reds, yellows and whites you had in your round. Most reds buys the food afterwards.

There’s no real point to it, one day we just wanted to mix it up a bit and it turned out to be a good laugh and lets you see the course differently from different tees.
I really like this.

Jeez, how long is it! Although maybe its a UK thing

All tees at all courses rated for women here, several easily over 7,000yds with the longest being 7,500yds 83.2/148
That's what should be done. I don't understand what "outside the parameters" mean for not doing women's rating? After all, the rating team is there, just get it done! Doesn't matter if any women would play them or not.

Me neither…why I asked…and so I will ask my club the question…and feedback the answer.
