Is it just me or are any of you seeing your interest in professional golf on the TV waning? I usually get so wrapped up in American college football that I don't watch much golf in September through December. However I usually dive back in with vigor in January. For some reason that hasn't been the case this year. I bet I haven't watched more than ten minutes of any tournament PGA or European. Maybe it will change in February because I'll be home bound due to knee surgery. I used to love watching the Euros play in the mornings especially when it a classic older course. I feel sure I will perk up for the majors, at least I hope so.

Pebble Beach is generally the start of interesting golf (well, apart from any coverage of the amateurs which isn’t interesting. Can watch bad golfers at any local course 🤣). Scheffler’s return would definitely help, even if he’s still in rehab mode rather than contending.

Too many US courses look virtually the same week in, week out....
There are exceptions but many holes could be from a multitude of courses..
Plus they take too damn long
Plus this irritating "featured groups" thing that has happened in the past few years....
There's tons of golf being played..show the good shots and some bad shots..there's plenty going on
Showing the same 2 or 3 groups plodding around making pars doesn't show the product in a good light...

Completely agree about featured groups. I’m not a moron - so show as much as possible: I’m quite capable of following the “story” of individual star players and groups and how their round is ebbing and flowing without the coverage ignoring all others to focus on them.

imho this is where the LIV coverage is refreshing

Agree with the first sentence, they do all look the same. But paradoxically, 3 of the tournaments I enjoy the most are played at the same course every year. Maybe it’s the familiarity but also the challenge of some of the iconic holes (numerous at Augusta, 17th at the players, 16th is it at waste management) where you know you’ll see plenty of drama. That said, the 2 best tournaments last year were the open and us open, largely because of how tough they were. Again, comes down to the drama I guess.

Harbour town, pebble beach and bay hill aside, I don’t think I could tell the rest apart.

I don’t watch pro golf except for the major tournaments plus The Players & Ryder Cup, I got bored of the repetition of it, just seemed much the same week in week out.

Used to watch it a lot (PGAT). Completely stopped watching normal events last year. Just watch 4 Majors and Ryder Cup.

I just find regular tour golf boring, now that best players are scattered across different tours

When it comes to American Tournaments (other than majors) I often just watch the highlights programme shown after it has finished.
With DP Tour I often just watch Fridays to see who makes the cut, Sundays as a lot of the DP Tour tournaments are shown early morning I record and often just watch the back 9.

I’m a bit like this. I’d usually watch the PGAT most weekends but I haven’t watched a tournament for months. Courses all look the same, same benign weather each week, ludicrous amount of commercials, same guys being featured each week and the best players are scattered over 2 tours.

I rarely watch any now. With the players split between two different factions I can't feel interested in it. Personally I prefer the old stuff and not interested at all in the LIV golf.
