YouTubers.

Just watched the Golf Life video, Bullard vs Batistuta. Batistuta seems like the nicest man in the world, and an incredible putter. Says he took up the game at age 34 in Qatar and after two years he was off 3. 😳

Would love to have seen the conversation where Bullard explains who he is, since Batistuta must have had no idea. 😂 "I played in the Prem!"

I mean that’s hell of an impressive first couple of years.

The most impressive I’ve heard of is Faldo, takes up golf aged 13 (nearly 14). Makes his Tour debut less than 5 years later aged 18 and then becomes a full time tour player at 19!!

Then there the likes of us 🤣

I think Faldo is underrated

I know that is nuts, as a 6 time Major winner, but I still think he’s a bit underrated.

I read that Greg took up golf and was off scratch in 12 months. Also underrated

I think a couple of people will be triggered by that comment, but it’s my opinion

I’m inclined to agree with you. I’m also biased as Faldo is my all time Golfing favourite as I grew up watching him, got to play Faldo series junior comps and met him at one of them. But his swing was flawless, his mindset was off the charts and the way he worked a ball was something else. He was unlucky not to win the grand slam, but 6 major wins and a 2nd place in both the US Open and PGA is phenomenal.

As for Norman, you don’t spend that long at world No1 without being exceptional, only 2 majors though and both being the Open with so many missed opportunities in the others along with his quite abrasive and arrogant demeanour off the course doesn’t really endure him to people. I quite like the guy though and his swash buckling style, I do still really want one of those hats as well 😎🤠

The thing that always staggered me about how quickly he developed, was as you say, taking up the game aged 13-14, he talks about practicing from dusk till dawn, trying to emulate the swings of the greats such as Nicklaus, palmer and sarazen, and 5-6 years later he’s beating Nicklaus in the Ryder cup! Absolutely madness.

An old mate of mine sadly gone was a member at WGC when Faldo was there. He told me stories of how faldos mum used to bing him sandwiches at lunch times and his tea down to the club as he was there all day. He also used to say that what ever he was practising, he would often do it for the whole day, whether it was bunkers, putting pitches etc. some dedication for a teenager

The newest Finch in collaboration with Titleist is interesting
Just watched it earlier on this evening along with his playing one at Copperhead.

I can’t work out if I found the video interesting or whether it was paralysis by analysis. The biomechanics, mobility and power generation for me was fascinating as I find how the body moves and can be improved a hugely interesting topic and I want to get my own health and fitness handicap now 🤣.

But the swing mechanics part couldn’t work out if that was interesting and trying help him eke out more. I just don’t think the instructors were very good at conveying how to implement the ideas into the swing. I’d love to give it a rewatch but with the same guys doing the fitness analysis and a real top coach giving the swing advice based off of the science.

The Iona TPI interview was much better 😉

Bit harsh on Dave Phillips that mind he's a top 50 coach and worked with loads of tour pros. Jon Rahm since he was in college

Absolute top level that I’ve never heard of him and thought he came across extremely poorly in that video.

It’s just an opinion, Dr Greg was passionate and explained the data amazingly well and how it helps identify issues whereas Dave Phillips came across to me that he was able to convey his ideas and skills as a coach very well with the amazing data he’d been given.

Maybe he’s a good coach that works better with feels and feel players rather than technical data who knows. But I don’t think I was harsh 😎

He's the co-founder of TPI. the number one golf school in the world. he is a top coach. He may not be as charismatic as Greg in front of the camera but he got Finch's hip turn with the irons changed up pretty quickly.

It’s just an opinion and I don’t think he did great with the data, but then just goes to show we all see things differently 👍

I’ve just watched this over the course of this morning. This imo was a far superior video and account of what a good TPI session is all about. Iona was extremely candid and open about everything, Dr Greg was thorough, insightful and explained every step and how it helps both golf and the body in general.

Overall a really good (lengthy) video on how it can identify issues, improvements and identify physiological imbalances in the body.

I've mentioned Ross in other threads, this is his latest

I’ve watched a few of his vids they’re pretty good full on pervs will enjoy the fitting ones it’s amazing how often he gives them a swing tip to get them hitting it better (especially the mid and high handicap)

I like watching them but sometimes I feel he is lost and clutching at something. But having said that even he admits that it’s hard to decipher what is a normal swing pattern for people as they offer up huge variation.
Precision Golf are interesting in the fittings, they look at how the weight and shaft balance impact people’s timing.

The fitters challenge is consistency..
