Played today and it was absolutely howling a gale.

Still playing pretty well all told then arrive at the 12th tee.

It's a par 3, 170 yards or so. Straight into the wind so I'm hitting my 2 hybrid off the tee.

God only knows what I did but hit the ground about 18 inches behind the ball and it toddles off the side of the tee block. Cue much hilarity from my playing partners.

Anyway, 2nd shot nailed the same hybrid and it ended up right at the back of the green. Holed the 30 footer for an easy 3 on the card:fore:

Was almost embarrassed to put a 3 on the card!

What's the most ridiculous par or recovery you've pulled off?

Par 4, sliced my tee shot into trees on the right. Went for a mad shot through the trees, hit one and the ball ended up 30 yards behind me, hit a sweet 5 iron to within 6 inches and tapped in for par.

Same hole, hit a reasonable drive, duffed my second shot ten yards, put the third straight in the hole for birdie.

The 14th at mine today. There was a gentle breeze into and off the right and the hole had been shortened to 340yds. Hit my drive 170 forwards and 200yds left (started a little off line....) missed the fairway to the hole that runs next to it. Creamed a 3 wood 125 yds to the middle of the fairway - right one this time (gps measured so yes I can hit it that far) then put a 9 iron 25 feet left of the green and chipped in.
NWj - your short game is good though!

A 3 wood 125 yards? You're going to be hounded off this forum my old mucker :)

My short game has been a long, long way from good recently sadly!

What passes for a "gentle breeze" in Morecambe? 40mph?

i'll turn it round for the most ridiculous triple bogey! At the Torrance course, St Andrews i was sitting 3 feet away on a par 4 in 2. It wasn't long after the Seniors Open and the greens were like snooker tables and it was a howling gale. Anyway, missed the putt, the ball rolled OFF the green, took 2 to get it back on, then another 2 to get the bloody thing in.

Our Stroke index 1. Par 4

Tee shot onto the hole running parallel
Approach shot from the wrong fairway into the green side bunker
Hit my bunker shot cleaner than expected and sent the ball over the green into a really awkward position next to a tree.
I then thinned the next shot which rattled the flag and dropped in the hole.

Not a single good shot on the hole. Best thing is I played a blinding round and got a cut from it!

Blakes golf club in Essex.....136 yard par 3....island green........did a Barnes Wallace, ball bounced 4 times on the water, jumped up onto the green missed the hole by about 2 inches and ran off the green at the back into the water......

Put another ball on the tee, nice strike, one bounce, straight in the hole....easy par......:whoo:

par 5,, of the Tee OK 2nd shot into tree's 3rd shot back across fairway landed next to a tree 4th shot lay up to water or go for green ,,i went for green 5 iron hit the ball never even saw were it went shouted to my mate did you see the ball ,he says its on the green one foot from flag ,then looked at my 5 iron & with out me knowing i wrapped it round the tree it was bent in middle of shaft went to green putted for par ,,went to bin 5 iron trash

It was like an umbrella grave yard.

Brilliant!

I played at De Vere in Blackpool just after New Year in stupid winds (shouldn't have bothered really).

I nailed, and I mean nailed, a second shot with 2h 118 yards to the green. GPS confirmed :)

Mind it was bad the last time I was at your place.

mine wasnt a par but a decent birdie, par 5 14th up against OOB fence off tee managed to chop the ball to the fairway massive hook behind trees chipped out then holed a sandwedge from 90 yards.

Our 16th hole. 437 yards Stoke index 2.
Uphill, slight dogleg left.
A bitch of a hole at the best of times.
Playing a Medal a couple of years ago I sliced off the tee (no surprise there!) to be on the far side of the 17th fairway that runs down the hill in the opposite direction - about 190 yards and about 45 degrees...Quality eh?

Hit a good 5 wood back onto the correct fairway which left a solid 8 iron that went about 25-30 feet past.

Drained the putt to a look of complete astonishment from CVG.

If memory serves I won Div 1 that day

A Par 3 Seckford Hall Suffolk, huge drop of about 40 foot off the back of the green to waste land but still part of the course......I over hit an iron and it went down the drop leaving a near vertical lob shot back to the green  ....opened up the face on a 60deg wedge just trying to get the ball up to the same level the green was on,full swing and found the front of the green about 15 foot from the pin and sank the put for a three! Felt like an eagle :) .

Really short Par 3 (130 yards down hill), sliced my 9 iron into the greenside bunker. Thinned the bunker shot completely, it was heading for the bunkers on the other side of the green, until it got caught up in the flag and dropped to about 2 inches. Flukiest 3 ever!

2nd at Skukuza in the Kruger National Park. Par 3 of about 160 yards. Picked up a 6 iron instead of a 9 iron (I still don't know how I didn't figure it out when I was over the ball) hit it beautifully. It sailed over the green and hit a branch on a Marula tree and rebounded onto the back of the green. 2 putts and par was miraculously saved.

Par 3, 18th .................Hit a 7 iron straight along the floor down a slop roles to the right of a pond up another bank past a bunker ......then round the back of another bunker left me with about a 10 ft putt ....then 3 putted ..........

Sorry you said par didnt u :o
