How many golfers remember their first set of clubs ? I remember getting mine for my 13th Birthday. They were a half set John Letters Supermex endorsed by Lee Trevino. It had a 2 Wood (which was Wooden) 5,7 & 9 irons & of course a putter. I used them up until I was 18 before getting a set of Howsons.

A rather lovely set of Golden Bear clubs from Costco. I used them for 6 months before trading up to a set of MX23's. I still used the woods for another year though. Nice.....

All the clubs I have had over the years but I have never forgotten the first clubs I had.
Late summer 1970 half-set (driver, 3 wood, 3,5,7&9 irons plus putter & pencil bag) bought on Mail Order from advert in Daily Express.
Mizuno Silver Cup, described at the time by a pro at the local muni' as " Jap crap". If he is still around I wonder what he would now say.

I had some Ben Sayers zero-in with a titiliest 905 driver and a macgregor 3 wood, which I think was actual wood!

had some chinese clubs that cost 70 pounds , upgraded pretty quick lol

my mate still uses the driver from the set and hits it over 230 yards

A Slazenger driver & 3 wood. A Slazenger 3 iron, a Splading 5&7 iron, a 9 iron of some description and an Accushnet putter. All in a canvas pencil bag. Golf balls were Red Dunlop 65's - red because I got the set from my dad who had played most of his golf in the desert on 'browns.' The 2 woods matched but none of the others did. I got them in '69 but they were way older than that. I started to replace them with Wilson Blue Ridge irons in the early 70's at the pincely sum of £8 per iron from the local High St sports store - 2mths of paper round for each iron.

Half set of Slazenger Challenge...
1 1/2 wood(?), 3w, 5w, 5,7,9 irons and a putter - and what a pile of poo they were too....
1st real set was by Howson - Dj100's. Very good set which got me to 12 handicap when I upgraded to TopFlite Tour which were being used by Ronan Rafferty on Tour.

Not to long ago for me as only started in 2011. I bought a set of Lynx Black Cats from Fleabay for £38 for 3-sw. Used them for about 4 months whilst I was having lessons, and only used once on the course.

Then traded up to Nike VR Cavity which I really liked, I only really changed as was offered the chance of a full on paid for custom fit by my dad as a present so thats when i got what I have now and I ain't changing for a long while. Though may treat myself when I hit cat1

Set of secondhand Lynx Predator irons with matching wood woods... Paid £120 for them circa 1988/89... Ronnie threw in a Bronty putter and a Wilson bag to seal the deal... I believe I still have the putter somewhere... In the loft?

A bag of mongrels. No two clubs from the same set, and the 5 iron had punch holes rather than grooves. The driver had a defect in the face which meant that one hit a bit low on the toe would shoot off at a strange angle.

I used a punch hole 8 iron with a wooden shaft  loved using it- still have it

Mine were also a mish mash of assorted bats handed down from my gran!

My first "real set" of 3-SW, yes you really did get 9 clubs once upon a time were a set of Dunlop Max 357 irons.

I had a set of odds and sods my parents bought me from the paper. My favourite was the pinseeker 7i, it was a thing of absolute beauty - couldn't hot it for toffee though. Mind you, I couldn't hit any of them back then
