Hi I am new to golf and will be buying my first set of clubs soon, I was looking at pxg wildcat set as it gives free fitting and a discount for Being in fire service but have seen some negative views about them that seem to be more about the adverts in the US that the actual clubs.
Do you guys think they are good clubs and value with the discount offered and fitting or would I be better getting something like the callaway XR package set. Cheers

Does it have to be a package set? PXG make very good clubs so I can’t see it being bad but you could look at options like the Black Ops irons as a set and then add bits as you progress. Grow your set with your game so to speak.

I have PXG gen 7 irons.
They are fantastic golf clubs.

My advice is buy a second hand set to get you going.
A fitting with an independent fitter to get your spec then eBay or golfclubsforcash and find a set in your spec.

Buying new now is fine if you can afford it.
But you might outgrow them if you improve over time ,
Second hand is the way to go to start.

Don’t just stick to one brand Ping ,Srixon ,Taylormade the choice is endless and daunting try and get some advice
Lots of knowledgeable lads on here
Comes down to what suits you the shaft is vital to get right and makes it easier to play if you have clubs that suit your swing .
Good luck.
