Evening all. Prob been asked a million times but can anyone recommend a good set of clubs for a beginner? I've only recently got the bug and in my late 50s although quite fit for age. I do have an old set of 'slazenger challenge californian' and I know they would do me for now but would like a set that look like they haven't just been found in a skip! I understand im going to be buying again later on so im looking at used on places like marketplace and fleabag. Are the Ben sayers m8 worth looking at? I've also seen a lovely looking Powerbilt Citation 11 that the seller says are good for beginners and very forgiving. Any advice welcome please. Nig

Would really all depend on how much £££ you’re looking to spend

I don't think Ben Sayers have any sort of reputation for being decent, no.

As usual, Golfbidder is a decent place to start. You can select 'beginner' level, and then put in your budget to see what they have. I've put in beginner irons, max £300 here for example: https://www.golfbidder.co.uk/golf-clubs/iron-sets?golfer_level=8139&price=-300
For most of them it tells you what year they came out as well, there's quite a few from 2019-2021 which will still be good for that money.

I'd be interested to see a picture of the Challenge Californian please, it's not a model I've come across before.

Unless it's the same as one of the following?

Ye mine are the same as your third picture down. I've a full set inc 3 , 5 wood + head cover . And an old leather red white and blue slazenger bag and cart but I think the bag might have seen better days.
