Guests and green fees allowed

However members book up to 2 weeks ahead green fees only a week

And guests now can only go 6 times a year regardless who signs them in

How easy is it for people to get reasonable tee times at their own club (pre this lockdown)? My trial membership was at a members club, with over 400 members I believe. During these Covid restrictions and booking onine, my experience was that is was very difficult to get any sort of decent tee time, especially during the weekend. You would basically have to commit to a round of golf a few weeks in advance and book as soon as you can.

Pre lockdown, at my current club and without booking system, you could basically just turn up when you liked and go when tee was clear. Often that could be straight away, though at weekend maybe you'd need to wait for 3 or 4 groups to get away before you.

I'm considering joining somewhere else, but would be interested to know if, before Covid, if most members at member clubs always felt they had to commit early to get a tee time, or generally is is easy enough to make last minute decisions to play and get a tee time (forgetting competition days, where no doubt it will depend on size of the field)? The ease of getting a tee time, at least once Covid is history, will play a key factor in whether I go somewhere else, or just stay where I am and get on with it.

Pre-covid = No problem getting a reasonable tee time.
Covid times = Increased membership with over 100 people, a lot on furlough, with most of them being very actively playing, i.e., several times per week = fingers on buzzers at 00.01 for the weekend tee times especially.

Our Thursday night 9 hole league this past summer we all had to book our tee times at least 3-4 days in advance. Pre-covid you'd never think of having to book a tee time for a midweek round after work.

That's what worries me. I guess it is good for golf, getting more people interested. But, not playing and the difficulty getting tee times (or just committing that far in advance, along with committed playing partners) has turned me off golf in many ways. I've not been bothered booking anything for opening weekend, and there is unlikely to be any slots available now anyway (especially with non-members flooding to our course). I can easily see myself not joining anywhere, or rejoining my current club in August. Sit back for a while and maybe get back to it in a year or 2 if any club takes my fancy.
