I have to be fair, I understand the motive behind the letter BUT the conext, method and setting a deadline is overkill. Our club does contact regular offenders who pull out of club comps without prior warning and will issue a one comp ban after a warning.
However, and this is where I have to praise the comp organisers at RA, my mums health has been very up and down in recent weeks. I've entered comps in good faith and then found myself having to make early morning dashes to hospital, spend time visiting, and have had my own health issues too. I usually call the club on the morning and give the pro time to contact those on the reserve list.
The point is that I've explained the current situation and that I always endeavour to play but my priorities may change at short notice and that the golf gives me vital "space". They have been very accommodating and have said providing I still give the pro time to fill the spot they have no issues.
