What do you consider 3-putt country?

I was off the green by about 2" yesterday on the 1st for 2shots.
Walked off with a 6 😣🔫

Anything is 3 putt territory for me.

There have been times when 15 ft has been 3-putt country!

But normally anything from about 15 yards, depending on slopes. I never beat myself up for 3-putting such putts, but the short ones are very frustrating!

It's not a matter of Distance.

There are courses I've played where there's no excuse for 3 putting from just about anywhere on the green to any hole position, and others that demand that you consider your first putt when playing your approach shot (or even your tee shot!)

Whether a pin should ever be positioned such that the ball is only going to stop in its vicinity when played from below the hole is, of course, another debate!

Putting is one of my stronger points,( shame about the rest )

I try to hole every putt and not 3 putted in my last 4 rounds, so stand by for a handfull today !!!

Had a bet earlier in the year with our captain that I could play a round with him and wouldn't 3 putt any green, for every one I did I would give £10 to his charity.

13th hole I duffed my first putt, missed my second to loud cheers from the other 3 players, then took my wedge and chipped in from 2 ft ( didn't mark the green )

I did donate £10 but in my books not a 3 putt

I always expect to get down in 2 from anywhere but if I've done so from distance I certainly feel chuffed/relieved that I managed it.....ie a "good 2 putt" probably ranks with a chip and putt to get up and down from off the green. Don't worry too much if I don't make it in 2 but I'd never say there's an acceptable distance where 3 putts is OK.

This is the area of the game where I really need to improve. I three putt several times per round. Took 44 putts in my score of 100 in last Saturday's comp, which was only three over my handicap. Need to put the time on the putting green and a score under 90 should be within my grasp.

Virtually nothing is 3-putt country. I see every putt as a 1 putt and go for it. I suppose if I was on an awkward shaped green where I had no line to the hole, or stuck coming down a steep hill where I can't stop the ball, then that may be in 3-putt country.

The only time IMO that anything can be called 3-putt country is when it is almost impossible to get it inside 3 foot with your first putt. Distance has no bearing on what a 3-putt should be. I could be 100 foot away, but if it is a straight forward putt then it is a 2-putt. On the the other hand I could be stuck on the upper level of a green 10 foot away with no chance of getting it close.
