Hi there
Just started again after a long (very long) break.

I’ve been given a couple of clubs and I was wondering if these are fairway woods (if they still exist) or hybrids or rescue clubs which I don’t really understand 😃

When would I use them exactly ?

They are a Taylor Made 3 wood 19 degrees and a Taylor Made 5 wood 25 degrees.

Thanks in advance for any advice 👍

They are indeed fairway woods
you can use them off the tee, or off the deck

The 3 wood would generally go lower and further
whereas the 5 wood would go higher and shorter, depending on how you hit them.

Hybrids sit between fairway woods and irons, they are considered easier to hit, especially out of rough, hence the term Rescue Club.

get down the range, have a welly and see how they feel

What shafts are in the clubs (Stiff / Regular / Floppy)

Thanks, heading to the range next week - so I should practice with them off the ground not off a tee ? Not sure on the floppiness of the shaft (won’t be googling that phrase)

With those lofts and numbers they are hybrids also known as rescues . They are designed to replace the same number long iron. Nothing wrong with trying the 19 off a tee but it needs to be teed very low - no longer than about quarter and inch off the ground

I think you're right.
The original pic made the heads look bigger than they are
