what did you shoot today?

Tiger - putting was a nightmare. Found it so hard to keep the putter steady, and the ball was being influenced by the strength of the wind once it got rolling. Made it very challenging indeed. Hoping it will make those still warm days to come that little bit easier though! :)

Glad it wasn't just me. Straight two foot putt blown off line and a ten foot putt blown four inches against the break WTF. I did have to laugh on the 17th tee. Waited for the wind to drop, steadied myself but just as I started my downswing a really strong gust blew me off balance onto my heels and I hit a horrible skewed drive under a tree to the right of the fairway. One of the worst drives I'd hit all day and yet made my only par of the round on that hole. Funny game golf.

Played with Hawkeye yesterday in our 2nd round WInter knockout. We got an old fashioned arse kicking 5&4. I didn't play great all day, Mike was in and out and the opposition gelled as a pair and so if one played poorly the other didn't. Oh well.

On the plus side he drove the ball great with his new Titleist driver and hit the new irons well although he did seem to be shorter with these compared to his old Pings.

didn't keep a score but the driver was doing my head in.........

i hit 4 with the driver and 1 was good and 3 were borderline duck hooks to say the least.not happy!!!!

and the course is crap!

horrible conditions today was looking forward to trying the new vokey out but it wasn't a great day for it. front 9 was woeful good bit better after the turn but my playing partners wanted to wrap it after 15th and i walked in with them
theres always next week lol

First outing with the new clubs yesterday and as Homer said we took a beating in the Winter knockout. Kind of threw it away really. I should have won the 3rd to get us back to square after losing the 1st and should have halved the 5th so instead of being level we found ourselves 3 down and never really recovered.

On the plus side I think me and the Titleists are gonna get on just fine, I don't think I've ever hit so many shots out of the sweet spot.

Went out again today to get some more familiarity in but gave up after 14 as the wind was making it impossible to really learn much about my game.

Friday was promising, Saturday less so, and today, shocking.

Friday I played a lot of really nice shots.

Saturday, played the back nine first, 14 points, 9 over par. Not good. Front nine, 22 points, 1 over par, with a treble on the second. Acceptable really. Smoked it on the front nine.

Today? In the comp? Should have stayed in bed. Did not trust my swing, and pretty much quit on every shot. Hit a few nice drives, a few 4 woods, but other than that, junk. Back to the range. I need to hit a lot more shots with this swing before I trust it. Bit of an eye opener. Putted like a blind donkey too. Isn't that the way?

Testing conditions today but was striking the ball well, managed to nick division 1 winner with 38 pts.

A .2 cut but still not good enough to get to single figures.....its agonisingly close now.

You didn't get a lot of help though matey apart from me halving the odd hole to keep the corpse twitching. I just couldn't get it going and don't think Ali helped as I'd hit it well before he turned up on the practice ground. I knew it was going to be a long day when Alan hit it so close from that lie on the 1st

I decided at 0915 this morning (after seeking the wifes permission) to head to Machrihanish for a knock after being let down twice this weekend for games.

It was a tad breezy but very playable making for a very enjoyable day on the links. A few squalls were chased away by the wind and it was cold if you stopped for too long. Thankfully it wasn't busy and I motored on. Even having time to play 2 balls. Highlights included 3 birdies and driving the 6th green with my 3 wood.

The back 9 was tougher than old boots playing into the wind, the 10th at 502 yards played 3 wood, 3 wood, 4 iron. The 15th at 166 yards was a disaster with a cut hybrid which ended up 35 yards right in deep cabbage. The 16th was also out of reach with my 3 wood.

A treble, bogie, bogie, par finish resulted in an 80 but it was a good 80! Love Machrihanish, think I'll head again next Sunday.

Who's joining me?

Lost on the 21st hole in the winter pairs ko on Saturday. Gutted, especially since I left my 12' putt for the win 1/4" short on the first extra hole.

Didn't play great but not awful either.

Played a winter league game with my partner 3/4 handicap he played of 5 (6) and me off 10 (13) did not drop a shot and scored 47pts, we did not have a 4pt on the the card my partner had 3 bridies without a shot and i had nett bridies. My personal score was approx 39 points,

Windy as hell yesterday, my lad was almost blown off his feet by a massive gust mid back swing on one hole. Left the driver at home due to the wind and shot a net 68, 3 under handicap. Very happy with that under the conditions, and that was with a stupid 8 on one par 4.

33 points in the swindle on Saturday ... pretty good in that wind. Threw away two net birdie chances on the 17th and 18th which was annoying. Yet more chunked chips and pitches. Can't wait for firmer ground to get a bit of confidence back in the short game.

S&T continues to benefit ball striking, so glad to be keeping scores ticking over in the winter months.

Nice morning today I went round on my own and shot 76... and three putted 4 times! :( One day I'll hit the ball well and putt well in the same round..... Or maybe not!

My 2nd outing of the year ( back injury ) , Monday , joined 2 mates , and Played 13 holes, shot +4
But as said in Prev. Post , Forward tees & Winter Greens, course playing short
Swing Improving, but still nowhere near was before injury.
Just gota stick at it, and try and groove a swing, going to start hitting the Range and the Practice grounds (weather permitting) and just get stuck into Practice and repetition, instead of just getting on the course.
But Putting on these winter greens is getting u down, u even start doubting your stroke.......

I shot 93 today which with my unofficial 20 h/c, is +2. I only planned on doing 9 but the course was dead, as was yesterday, so carried on. The evenings are getting lighter too, I managed to finish at 1640hrs and there was still a tiny bit of light left. Only 2 weeks ago and you were lucky to be on the course at 1615hrs.

Btw, what are your average stableford scores? My last few games are as follows, I will be getting my 3 scores cards in when I can but thinking maybe my estimation is not far off.
31 Jan (18 holes) 34pts
30 Jan (18) 31pts
25th Jan (9) 19pts
23rd Jan (18) 32pts
22nd Jan (9) 17pts
21st Jan (9) 18pts
