What constitutes strong winds for a golfer?!?!

Not sure. I'm from the Shires and a parkland course and not exposed to anything too taxing. Expect that to be proven at Hillside. I played at Bude where the flags were trying to touch the greens and that was "interesting"

i played up at dornoch today and i think its fair to say on the way back in the wind was brutal. i felt i was hitting the ball lovely (which is quite unusual for me) only for it to stop right in front of me.

Playing mid ams Littlestone Tuesday 36 holes and North Foreland Wednesday 36 holes.....wind forecast to be gusting at 35 mph........ Gulp....:o

Today's forecast 25-30mph with gusts up to 50mph. Could be heavy rain for the first couple of hours too, though it doesn't seem too bad out there just now. Always keen to get out in these conditions as half the field usually gives up after half a dozen holes. Hopefully I bring my swing today, and show these soft central belters how it's done. Now where are my shorts?...

I didn't think it was that bad yesterday, 3 or 4 club wind at Nairn on the front 9 into the wind, played off the white which were on the blue boxes for some reason!!

didn't use an iron for a 2nd shot on the front 9:( down wind was a birdie barrage

Maybe it was because ive not played in much wind. I felt on the back 9 with the wind in my face was a real challenge

We don't often get very strong winds, on Thursday it was forecast at 25mph, probably gusted at more, I didn't mind playing in it but I found keeping steady when over putts very hard works and as a consequence rushed a lot of putts.

Was playing tother day in what was a fairly stiff (15-16mph) breeze I thought, anyway on one of the holes the wind was coming left to right so I tee"d off and by the time the ball had travelled the 200 or so yds to the green it landed about 20-25yds right of my intended target taking into account a slight fade but I have seen balls almost "stop and drop" when driven into a full on head wind !...

A 3 club wind.
I can handle a 2 club wind but a 3 club wind makes it hard and I don't like hard.

I understand links golfers will say that's a breeze but for me that's a hurricane.
I do believe that makes me a fair weather golfer or for some up north a Southern softie.

On Thursday I hit our par 3 18th with a 3 wood, I would normally have taken a 6 iron.

Wot's a 2 club wind when it's at home, I take it you mean having to use a 5 instead of a 7 iron !...

If that's the case then I'll quit when I gotta use a driver instead of the putter !!!

2 club wind is plenty. Any more gets a bit silly. At Silloth there are two par 5s one after the other running in opposite directions. Neither is too long, 500 yardsish. Played one with a driver, 3 wood and 5 iron and the other with a 3 wood and 7 iron.

All I can say is, listening to the wind racking around the rafters, I'm glad I'm not playing today.
And the forecast doesn't sound any better tomorrow!
