May have been done before but so many newbies.

1) To become a single figure handicapper, the swindles I play with reckon I have it in me, I can't see it yet though.

2) To record a verified 300yd drive as that is a pretty exclusive group at my club.

3) To get a hole-in-one at some stage in my golfing career.

4) To be good enough to be able to wield a set of pornographic looking blades.

Got the blades, got the hole in one (3), need to play at altitude to record a 300 yarder though. Still waiting on the single digit h/cap. Nearest I have been is 10.5.

Main target this year is to score more blazer (top 20 in medals) points than my two mates with whom I have a £20 bet every year.

Also be nice to win something. Anything will do.

Can't say how you can look at a 20ish h/capper and say they have single digit golf in them. Must be clairvoyant. Do they do the lottery?

I just want to get fit for golf again. Been sick since February, polymyalgia rheumatica, and still too weak for golf.
Looked in how-did-i-do.co.uk and found I had been cut from 28 to 26 so my hope is that I play to this before the end of the summer.

My aim this year is to get my handicap down to at least 25 (I have already played to 28 3 times this year  but not in a comp :() and play in every single club competition, (to date I have played in all comps so far and my name is down for the next 4).
And like murphthemog to win something and defend the Pam Maynard trophy (I won with 39 points last year and it was my one and only big comp win, got my name up on the board :D).
Like every golfer would like a hole in one (I've come close but not close enough)
Next year I'll set new goals

Poor you :(, polymyalgia rheumatica is not a pleasant thing at all, hope the treatment is going well and you get back in time for summer, keep positive and keep moving.

Currently of 8.8 would love to get down to 7 even be happy with 8 which is do'able cant see me getting lower than 7 but you never know?

TWM, my Dad has Polymyalgia and it has been a real struggle for him. I feel for you on this one. It has taken ages, but they have finally got him on the right medicine, and he is back playing. Get well soon mate.

At the moment I'd settle for playing to my handicap!! Seriously though I want to get to 10 this year. Like Medwayjon everyone complements me on my swing and thinks my handicap should be lower

A hole in one would be nice (got insurance now so shouldn't be too expensive).

A win in my division in a monthly medal/stableford to qualify for the Masters at the end of the season

To get my driving accuracy and GIR figures up higher and average less than 33 putts per round

I'm off 18 at the moment and will be looking to be down to 15 minimum this year. It's easily doable and I am practising hard to make sure it happens.

Finished 4th and 5th in the last 2 medals and aim to win one this year.

An ace would also be a bonus!!

My goals are pretty standard. I remember on New Years eve making a list of them and seperating them into 3 catergories.

1 The Do-able - Record a hole in one for the first time (officially)
Win a stableford or medal at my new club
Make the interclub team
Reach a single figure handicap
Go and watch the Open at Birkdale

2 The Outside Chance
Win one of my 4 Grand Slam events

3 The Impossible Dream
Record an Albatross
Win the Club Championship
Qualify for the Open :) ;)

Am really hoping to get down to 6 this year, and stay there. Although easier said than done.

Am currently 8 (7.5). I have a habit of playing 3 or 4 blinding rounds a year which brings the handicap down.

I then follow it these up with numerous rounds where I miss the buffer zone by just 1 shot and go back up 0.1 at a time. My biggest issue is maintaining good course management.

It’s oh so frustrating. Perhaps I just need to accept that I don’t have the mental capacity to concentrate for a full 18 holes :D

DHM.

My overall goal, tho', is just to enjoy it rather than fret

Very well put sir. It's amazing that actually the more you relax and enjoy the game the better you'll play.

Now only if I could listen to my own advice :D

Played so chilled out yesterday and had the best game ever.

My goals are to

A) Settle on a club and join it.

B) obtain a handicap of 22 or less

C) Play in some comps and try to reduce the handicap to below 20

D) Grove my new swing in nice and deep!

Maintain my HC at 4. Not very ambitious, but seeing as my second child is imminent (due last sunday, now late for it's tee-time) golf may be somewhat limited this season.

1:To get my handicap to single figures (might take a while)

2:To win a tournament at my club (any will do)

3:To have more than one birdie in a round (achievable)

4:Improve my putting (achievable)

Good question...

my main aim is to reach single figures and be able to play competitively off of this handicap. Other than this a hole in one would be nice, but not one of my more important aspirations. And I would definitely like to win a few competitions...I already have three 2nd places to my name, but just can't nail that victory.
