Well known bandits

Extend the number of qualifiers you need to submit at your own course to a reasonable number over a rolling twelve month period. Srely if organisers know of these bandits it doesn't take long to check on HDID or even call the club and if it is going to add time and effort in administration, bung a couple of quid on the entry and close it a week or so earlier to give organisers time to do the checks they want.

I happen to think there will always be bandits. We have at least one I know of at my own lace that plays in comps, often getting 0.1 and thens tick him with his partner (ex Zimbabwe pro now off 2) and lo he's a magician again. How can you do anything about it?

It is wrong

They need to find away to make them qualifiers or look at the prizes

It's a massive loop hole

Its very simple, full handicap in singles coms and all cards to be returned to your home club, can't see why that can't be applied, even the single/low handicappers must support that reasoning surely!

3/4's won't have an affect on a 16 handicapper who has a manufactured handicap and can easily play off 12, TM was reduced to 13 in the rounds within the Trilby and still pished it!

If not playing qualifiers at your home club is the hole, then fill it by making all single comps full handicap qualifiers.

Very simpleton question but it needs asking. Why are these events always 3/4 handicap. I think full handicap seems far more logical, makes it a qualifier (which may in turn weed a few out) and cards go back to the club for a cut or 0.1 adjustment

What about the pairs comps which is where a lot get the big prizes ? And the KO

Make the Trilby Tour a qualifier and they just wouldn't play in it - in fact I don't they do these days

The singles comps aren't the main issue

The singles are an issue and its a start in addressing the known problems with it, as for the pairs, won't the new rules play into the bandits hands with an increase to 90% from 3/4's?

The flip side to only playing a few comps, is playing loads to get 0.1s back.

While I am delighted to be going to Portugal, I cannot understand the mentality of people who keep their handicaps high to regularly win these sort of prizes.

I play the best I can every round, we won our event yesterday with 38 points.

and generally just down to taking the easy option by making it a non qualifier if all organisers made an effort to make the strokeplay rounds qualifiers it would enhance the comp and go some way to catching up with the crooks.

It will help the higher HC that's for sure

I think the Trilby must be the only single stroke play comp now that is a non qualifier - the rest of the mid ams are now but can never see the Trilby being a qualifier

I played against a guy who i was giving 7 shots to, drove the ball 50 yards past me off the tee, hit his irons 2 or 3 clubs longer and was a pretty good putter.

Yep I remember that day at Boat.
It was nice to meet you Patrick.
Didn't see much of you during the round but we managed to catch up in the bar afterwards didn't we.

That's the issue here though, Its a free holiday each all expenses paid to Portugal or Dubai.

Why pay a £1000 for a holiday when you can have one for a £25 entry fee.

The only way things will change is when people stop entering them and then the organisers have to make a decision.

What are the rules now? I heard 90% of difference but our winter four-balls have been publicised as 3/4 as normal?
Its changes on the 1st Jan so this years comp will be off 3/4 and next years comp will be the 90% rule.

I've stopped entering them but obviously they haven't noticed (or don't care!).

Cant understand the mentality, I am a frustrated high teens h'cap who knows there is a 12-14 in there but cant seem to deliver. I can on my day play much better than my h'cap and am desparate for that to be reflected in my h'cap have no interest in winning stuff off dodgy cap ...wouldnt feel any sense of accomplishment

Clubs are not interested in what you win away from home. When I won H4H and MashleyR7 came 2nd we both put our cards in for handicapping and they weren't interested.
