There was also event being played at Aldwark Manor today, I looked and the player list and saw a well known pair names and told the girl organizing the competition that they would win. Sure enough they did with 47 points!

I also noticed a Craig Wayman (not someone I am referring to in the title) playing who I would guess is the forums own Wayman, don't know how he did though.

That would have been worth a bet.. If I saw certain names* on a start sheet I'd probably relax and just play for the cut..

*Not the names listed above obviously. I have absolutely no doubt as to the honesty and integrity of the people listed...

Got that feeling when I saw LiverpoolPhil down for monday😜

47 points!!!! Blumin ek! Have to admit it is a shame when you can predict the winner.

There's 5 or 6 blokes at the my club that only play in the required 3 comps per year to allow entry to the 2 major ( big prizes comps). Last year after one of them won he said when questioned " why play more comps? It just makes it harder to win the big ones " he genuinely thought he was doing nothing wrong.

I enjoyed it, the holes near the hotel were mostly short but tight with lots of trees, especially the par 3s which were scary, the ones on the other side of the river were far more open but also longer.

Played it last year, thought it was ok with some decent holes but wasn't keen on the holes around the hotel apart from the par 3 18th (I think). Can get some good deals on green fees though.

We have that one Bandit at our club, plays 3 comps to keep his handicap, practices every day without fail, and played in 3 finals in Finals weekend this year, winning the singles, Mixed doubles and coming second in the Mens doubles. Absolute rascal.

The system is the fault here, hard to defend actions against the spirit of the game but if the rules allow then it will be done.

We all would use a rule if it helped us score better, they are just using the rules to win.

Make it min 6 qualifiers and the problem will be reduced but so will the inclusivity of the game... It's a tough call!

My approach is to just focus on my own game. I cannot change what other people do out on the course if they play within the rules.

not so much bandits ..... there where a couple of guys up here who would turn up and play last at a few opens that where not drawn or were walk on.

One would win the scratch the other the handicap. few of the clubs have got wise to it now, but managed to do it a 5 or 6 comps i know off.

Shame that there are pairs out there that clearly are off "bandit" handicaps to the extent that you can know in advance that they'll win. Does anyone know if they regular players in their normal club comps or do they tend to do just enough to maintain an active handicap
