As well, the odds of the two player team, who are playing on their own as a 2 ball through no fault of their own, being the cheats in the field are extremely small especially versus complete fields of 3 and 4 person teams.

I was in a competition a few years ago when a pair in the last group didn't turn up. We were in the group in front, and as the organizers didn't have a marker, they sent us out as a 6-ball.

We were all reasonably quick players, so were actually held up for most of the round anyway!
