Waterproof shoes. Myth or fact?

Never had a problem with leakage but water will always find a way in through the lace holes. Regular cleaning and dubbin extend their life although I'll second Sealskinz socks as the way to go. That and a comfy pair of FJ's and I'm sorted

I once saw an older member wear Tesco plastic carrier bags under his socks, because of his old leaking shoes .
Younger golfers should splash out on the more expensive version,

the Tesco Bag for life, fitted of course.

My first pair of golf shoes upon returning to the game in 2010 were a pair of Adidas (model escapes me) and they lasted until 2013. Since then I've had 1 pair of FJ Sport (too wide so partly my fault they didn't last) and 3 pairs of Nike Lunar Control 2 (one original pair, 2 replacements). Just got a pair of FJ Contours with my recent winnings so will report back on how well they last (or otherwise) as winter progresses.

In the nineties I had a pair of rubber golf shoes. They were slip-ons with a lace for show. Comfortable and never ever had wet feet, even from the long grass.
Only reason I binned them after many years was because the metal spikes wore right down an rusted in the screw holes.
Why don't they make them any more?
Silly question I suppose.

Dunlop Ducks? Cut down wellies with spikes if I remember

In the UK I always used DRYJOYS and found them to be more than suitable for wet conditions. Your feet will never be bone dry when playing in crappy weather, like people have already said it gets around the bottom of your trousers and slowly seeps into our shoes.

Nike Lunar Control III keeping my feet dry. Certainly more effective than the several different FJ models I have owned.

I honestly never notice until I take my shoes off after the round.

Some have left my feet soaked, others bone dry.

I don't really care. If it's wet enough to soak me then boo hoo, I might get wet feet. Who cares?

Another vote for Sealskinz socks, incredibly waterproof & keep your feet lovely and warm in the winter. Not cheap, but worth every penny.

Looking at getting a pair. Which ones do you recommend? There seem to be a few options, thin, thick, long, short etc. I don't want thick walking socks but equally I don't want tissue paper socks. I want normal thickness socks!
