Does anyone on here own one and if so what's your thoughts and experiences of them?

Weans, dug and golf clubs have driven me to despair with my Fabia Vrs and I'm going to have to get something bigger and ticks all the right boxes without breaking the bank.

Bit of a 'mummy-bus', mate! :p

Seriously though, my wifes pal has one and she really rates it. Very versatile, economical, reasonably well equipped and very well screwed together.

What engine/trim level are you thinking about?

Sadly my time in life has arrived where I need to look at a sensible option as a means of transport. I appreciate its seen as a "mummy's bus" however I am a daddy and need a "daddies bus"!

I'm looking at a TDi model however I've not taken one for a test drive yet. I was just sounding out opinions, as I said, two weans, mut and golf clubs = a bigger car now required for me!

I have had a 07 plate VW Touran 2.0TDI from new (company car) and I have to admit i have found very little to fault it. I also have 2 small kids and it has been very versatile and spacious, especially when the two rear seats go down and you can get 7 in the car - albeit with the kids in the rear seats.

Apart from a few minor repairs, it has never let me down and it is pretty fuel efficient - I think I average over 35mpg and above 50 on motorway journeys.

For such a large vehicle, the diesel engine has some decent poke and it doesn't feel like you are navigating Noah's Ark through the corners - but then this is not a performance car!!

I went for the sport interior and although the layout is pretty functional, everything is pretty intuitive and simple to work. One thing I would have liked was some Radio controls on the steering wheel (which I didn't realise was an extra). The cloth seats are sturdy and comfortable.

Two niggly things - you have to take the long clubs out of your golf bag for it to fit width ways. Secondly, there is no spare wheel (due to the fold down rear seats) so you get an expanding foam canister and tyre inflation pump that plugs into the ciggy lighter. OK in theory, but wouldn't want to test it out in the dark on the hardshoulder

I can recommend this car and although it won't win any prizes for style it is very functional.

Personally, after three years in a people carrier I am going back to an estate, mainly due to the fact that I didn't use the 7 seats as much as I first thought.

PM me if you want any more details. :)
