Just wondering how many people use a tee when they play a long par 3. I wouldn't think about using it for anything lower than a 7 iron.

I don't use them not really sure why, but thinking about giving it a go tomorrow.

I use the tiny orange castle tees for iron tee shots. When you are addressing the ball you can hardly tell you are using it....

On our par 3's at the moment we have Winter mats.
I don't use a tee on these - the ball tends to be teed too high.
The exception is our 200 yarder where I'll tee up regardless of the club as it will be a 4 iron/hybrid/4 wood depending on the wind.
On grass though I'll always tee it up.

I always use a tee.
I must admit that when I read the Tiger Woods book " How I play golf ", I was surprised how high he says he tees his long irons. Half an inch seems quite high !

i do now but i didn't earlier on in the season last year.

there are 2 holes at my club that use mats throughout the year and i don't on these tee shots.

Not being contrary but whilst I would never attempt to hit a tee-shot with a wood without a peg I genuinely feel more comfortable without when hitting an iron.
