US Open 2023

Course has looked decent with a few interesting holes and the setup has been much better than recent US Open's.

The fans on the other hand, it seems completely devoid of any atmosphere. Seems like it's full of the prawn sandwich brigade.

that’s the only downside. It was a very corporate US Open. Members got sold 4 tickets for each day apparently, with about 5000 being available for general sale. If that.

less than ideal…though haven’t missed the large swathes of ‘mashed potato’ and ‘baba booey’

Leaders at 22:30 tonight.
-4 best score yesterday, if similar setup then looks like the winner may be from the top six or so
Bugger. Well I’ll already be fast asleep by the so I’ll say it now ‘c’mon Rory!’

As for the course, I really like the look of it, it’s different to what they usually play. Also like the suburban back drop, makes the course look like an oasis in the middle of a concrete jungle.

If it’s playing the same as yesterday even Scottie may be out of it. If one of the top 3 shoots 67 they win it I think.

It is, I’ve read the land is valued at something like $8 billion and is the 2nd most expensive piece of land after Central Park.

opinions are fine…but this course is one of the best US Open venues we have had in recent years. Absolutely cracking course with some proper risk/reward opportunities.

love the balance of the front 9 being where you need to make your score and the back 9 being where you hold on for dear life.

shame we might need to wait until 2030s to see LACC again
Maybe it's just me, but it's just a course I'd have no interest in playing, even though it is supposedly more exclusive than that other place which manages to have a major every year.

2039, to be precise!

One of my regular playing partners has played the course. Got the T-shirt. Said he really enjoyed the course.

I think it looks one of the best US Open courses with a good variety of par 3s and 5s. Players using all the clubs in the bag rather than driver and short irons. I like the wider fairways so we are not watching players hacking out of the rough with a wedge all day. Bunkers look great and are actual penalties for missing greens. Think I might struggle on the greens with some severe slopes and being a tad on the nippy side.

Well this is riveting Sunday night viewing…..

If I go to bed now, can I get a solid 8 hours kip in and still get up in time to watch the finish?

Never heard of mist/fog described as a ‘marine layer’ before…
Must be American for pea souper

Marine Layer is different

In simple terms - Marine Layer is like a big bubble of air , it can contain fog or mist inside it etc

It’s happens over lakes and very popular around LA and San Francisco ( hence many pics of the Golden Gate surrounded by mist )

Unfortunately for Fowler he is looking like trying to avoid a big car crash for remaining round now. Clark however looking comfortable for now.
