Any of you guys using twitter? I don't but a friend of mine does and was explaining to me today how he had a "conversation" with John Daly online though it. It seems like a lot of the pros are starting to use it - Stewart Cink has 285,000 followers!

I'm still far from convinced that it isn't a HUGE waste of time but having a chat with JD is pretty cool I think.

Having said that I still can't be bothered to sign up!

Last week the 'in' thing was Facebook. Before that it was Friends Reunited. Now it's Twitter, and somewhere inbetween it was Myspace!

Gee. How many times am I supposed re post my likes, dislikes, friends, photos and all sorts of rubbish!

My friends already know how to get hold of me. So why do I want to spend the whole evening checking, Twitter, Facebook, Myspace, etc to see what 'they're doing now!!' I really don't care that you've just put a frozen pizza in the oven!

Get a life and spend less time on the internet!! :D

(Errr!) (Folks in glass houses!! :o)

John Daly can hardly speak in a sentence, I doubt he can type one.
I definately can't see him rushing home to log into Twitter :D

facebook is enough for me

i add as few people as possible but still end up with an annoying amount of people giving me the latest news in their pointless lives

bah humbug ;)

LOL - some interesting responses.

The weird thing is that JD clearly DOES rush home to put up twitter posts (or whatever they're called). Granted they aren't exactly Shakespeare (which is actually a good thing!) but he's somewhat addicted to it.

God knows how Stewart Cink has so many followers though. It's not exactly fascinating what he posts!

I take the point about it being this years big thing. I can't really be bothered with Facebook either although I can understand why some people do.

I wonder what next year's big thing will be...

Its a "tweet"! JD rushes home to tweet!

JD is also one of the people I follow, and I have had 'conversations' with quite a few LPGA tour players.

Twitter is not the same concept as facebook, myspace etc. Its less about profiles and more about posting quick messages for people to follow.

Good for finding out what friends or celebs are up to, and even for getting breaking news on certain topics.

I would recommend it.

I don't get the whole twitter thing.

I've looked at the frontpage of the website and it's so abysmal, I certainly won't be signing up.

So it's the worst bit of facebook on it's own!

Folks telling us what they're doing every 5 minutes, and this includes celebs. Argh! Even worse. The worst bit of Facebook and a cross with heat mag etc. Can't imagine anything worse.

You can keep it. But I'm out! :p

Just to keep you happy though. I'm sat at home typing this on my laptop. There's some 'up-to-date' 'news' for you! :D

Nope. I just don't 'get it'!

Ive been encouraged by a lecturer at uni to use this sort fo thing for professional development...hes encouraged me to get into the habit of a sporting blog just now, then iv to keep a teachers blog when i start.

alot of the celebs on there are fakes though, people pretending!!

Well I'm sitting here reading about you typing, and then typing about me reading about you typing.

Whilst humming the Birdie Song to myself.

Grinding coffee, anyone ?

Grinding teeth more like it..........................

I spend enough time on the PC on here - I havn't got time to worry about what loo paper is currently the fave or who fell out of a club a 3am last night.........

Before long we will evolve into mutes. Everything is by text or facebook or twitter or bollox or whatever the next one is going to be called.

Yes. I am a Grumpy Old Man!

Thats why you guys are old and don't own technology companies! ;-)

That may well be. However let me introduce you to Mr W. Gates and Mr A. Sugar! Two well known 'youngsters'!

Twitter is much bigger in the states in fact Bill gates is on it! Sir alan is not.

I agree with most that personnaly i wouldnt use it (the annoying parts of facebook is about right!) however we do use it for work! good way to find people who are interested in your product, good useable data for free!

Hi Johnny
don't let those luddites grind you down. Twitter is a blast - and compared to eg Facebook (which I gave up yonks ago) takes no time at all.
Give it a whirl - you'll be surprised what/who comes out of the woodwork! and if you don't like it you can always stop.
