TV Series - What Are You Watching?

After the disappointment of the Christmas Dr Who I put on a Tom Baker set, Revenge of the Cybermen. Proper, old school Dr Who 😍. Rubbery suits, dodge sets but stories that are soooooo much better.

All on iPlayer if anyone is tempted to relive their younger days.
Ahhhh, I had to sell all my old Flash (not Flesh) Gordon and Buck Rogers DVD's when we moved back to the UK.

Was that the Buster Crabbe Flash Gordon? I loved them as a kid. They were shown in the morning during school holidays, usually followed by a film with George Formby, Norman Wisdom or Elvis. Happy days.

Yep, had the whole series. Had to sell them 10 years ago when we moved back. Still watched them occasionally until then.

Traitors S3 starts this evening…joys. Such intrigue and fun.
And we are off.

So I’ll just get off my chest one of my pet hates in any ‘reality’ show - the exaggerated performative shock reactions and wafty hand waving antics so many younger female (mostly) contestants feel are essential when they know they are ‘on camera’ - they are not…no more open mouthed ‘shockity-shock’ nonsense - desist…

…aaaand relax…now I can get on with enjoying it.

The very reason I steer clear of such programmes. That and the presenter!

Squid Game 2. Not bad. Was never going to be as good as series 1 as the novelty has worn off. The sub-plot is a bit Marmite. Final series later this year.

Missing You. Standard Harlan Corben affair. Not that great TBH.

Foundation - a great recreation of the Isamov universe, dramatic and fascinating.
La Maison- a cross between ’Call my Agent’ and Succession. Very good.
Loot - a fun little comedy series about a billionaire and her charity
Landman - very good, Billy Bob being Billy Bob (if you like this try Goliath)
Dune Prophecy, epic, looking forward to the next season.

Brassic. I’ve somehow missed it. Very good, mid way trough the second series. Reminds me of Shameless a bit before it went too OTT.

Another shoutout for Landman. Best thing on tv at the moment.

SAS Rogue Heroes - strong start.

Gogglebox Festive Special - blubbed a bit watching them watching Gavin & Stacey. Their reactions pretty much matched mine. I think I'll have to watch it multiple times :)

Just watched the first episode of Lockerbie: A Search For Truth. Absolutely first class so far, with Colin Firth excellent as Dr Jim Swire.

As a young accident investigator I made it my business to read investigative reports from other disciplines to help me learn my craft, and I read the AAIB report into Lockerbie. It was a horrifying read.

But it only really touched on the mechanics of the disaster. Not the background, and the lies. This series goes into that background, and if the first instalment is anything to go by it is going to be a really, really good watch.
