A few weeks back I knocked a gross 16 over par, to get a 3 shot cut from 25.3 to 22.1, today I've equalled that PB of 88.

I went out in 50, and came back in gross 2 over par, for another 88. Over the moon with it. I seemed to be giving myself birdie chances on most greens on the back 9, doesn't happen too often.

Got my last round til end of August at 6.45 tomorrow morning, don't care if I nob it round in 120 - I've surpassed my wildest dreams with a sub 40 nine.

....might just put 2 together for a laugh tomorrow.

Love this game, come on! Another 2 shots to come off that handicap, and I'd like to think a general play cut too, on the basis of an ace back 9? Anyone got any ideas how they decide on those general play cuts? I want 6 shots deducting to leave me on 16. Cheers.

It's certainly not by choice haha. Unfortunately my membership expires tomorrow - if I renew now it's 800 quid til the end of the year, I'll only play a few times before I go on holiday mid-July til mid August. So not viable, if I renew from end of August it's £550, so I can't justify spending the extra.

Plus having a few family weekends should be good brownie points, touch wood. I'm allowed to play on holiday anyway, so that's a good starting point.

One positive from today that I should mention, is that I'd talked myself into splashing out on new irons this Summer - changed my mind on that, these things work, it's the swing that doesn't more often than not. Hard to accept, but decent lesson to learn.

Great shooting Tex!
One thing, if you were going to get new irons why not use some of the money to keep your membership up and keep playing.

Not a bad shout Andy, but I really can't justify the extra cost - membership is already extortionate, I'd rather not give the club any more dosh han I have to.

As an aside, as predicted, I went out this morning, swinging the club like Stephen Hawking, nobbled it round for a 102. Thankfully the club are going to keep my handicap active, so I'm not missing out on a chop.

Cheers for the kind words gents, nice when it all comes together.
