The Footie Thread

The problem with both is that they are effectively inverted wingers - both prefer to cut inside rather than beat their defender and put a quality cross in. In Antony’s case, he has no option as he is so unbelievably one footed. Shocking for a player at this level, and someone who must be an absolute dream to defend against.

What staggers me is that, under Solskjaer, United scouted Antony and the consensus was he was worth in the region of £25m. The fact that we paid over three times that is a shocking indictment of recruitment at the club.
Were you listening to R5 as well? They made these exact same points 😄. All completely valid. I think the inverted winger fashion is one of the worst parts of the modern game. It makes centre forward play so much more difficult.

See Bowen is an inverted winger or striker. I don't see why he can't play wide left with kudus right , and paquata as a false 9.. they would feed excellent off him

I’ve just witnessed two of the worst refereeing decisions I’ve seen in 30 years of watching football

Boly given a 2nd yellow for winning the ball

Followed by handball with no penalty or free kick given

What is the point?? 😂😂
That’s more a foul on Boly as the striker is very late.

Given up on handball rule and VAR.

Surely just swap them over then they can take their man on up the wing.

Just don’t see anyone try take the fullback on these days.
Comes from playing without a CF.

Apparently VAR couldn't be 100% it was in box
Looks in to me!
where is the ref ?
defenders in the box but when it hits his ribs it lands outside the box.

But why no free kick !

This happens far to often.
Worst ones are miles offside ,no flag then defender puts ball out for corner ,ref gives corner and they score from it???
Just give the offside.!

The first incident, it reminds me of the Rangers player that got clattered and the other player got a red Mid week. I questioned the Rangers players feet. It’s the same in this incident. Boly won the ball so why has the player not jumped over the challenge. I would be bloody livid if I was a Forest fan.
The second one. Forget the players arm what the ball hits for a second. Look at his other arm. He has kept it by his side so the ball don’t hit it. But the arm it hits is not by his side. It’s a nailed on penalty. VAR and the ref once more have had a shocker.

They should sign me up!

No, I must say I wasn’t. I caught the first half in the clubhouse and then drove home for the second half.

It’s a huge problem for United. At £85m, Antony must be one of the easiest wide men to defend against and by some distance the most scandalous waste of money I have ever watched. It took the rest of the Premier League less than a month to work him out. He’d be a one trick pony if he had a trick up his sleeve.

The mystery is that ETH sticks with him. Okay, he switches flank occasionally, but having registered no goals or assists all season, it’s beyond comprehension that he is anywhere near the starting lineup.

Read an article.. not sure if true but apparently the scouts at Utd valued him at 25 million until Eth convinced them to go for him and had to pay 85

To be fair 25 is about right

I'm not sure who we'd pick ahead of him? The quality in attack, all throughout the team is woeful
