The Footie Thread

The process is expected to take several years and involve thousands of hours of very expensive legal folk who won't be working for free. Who do you expect to pay for that? And while I have no love for City as a club, it seems totally reasonable to challenge the appointment of someone who openly states on a website that he's an Arsenal fan. I strongly suspect that a great deal of the evidence will be challenged, both in the tribunal and any subsequent court process, as having been obtained by illegal hacking!
Yet but the Arsenal season ticket holder is independant 😉👍

Welcome back Foxholer 😂😂😂
Thanks! Yes, I must resist the temptation to react to daft posts and issues documented here and simply laugh at them! One footy one as the last before I go though.... While FFP breaching is a greater offence, I find the silence about Klopp's untruths about his conversation with the Ref who Yellow Carded him on the advice of the 4th official, as the recording of that conversation clearly demonstrates, disreputable! The £75K fine is less than 2 days salary for him, so was relatively trivial! Enjoy the Europa League!

Good to see Sean Dyche being practical post match yesterday. He can have today off but then he, his assistants, DoF, tea lady, kit man need to be in on Tuesday working out who to move on, who to bring in, what style of play he wants for next year. Basically, a proper plan, a realistic plan. (One hint Sean, we can't rely on DCL being fit so a striker would be a good starting point 😉)
Absolute nesessity imo.
most of the teams at the bottom don’t have proper goal scorers.
DCL is made of glass.

Indeed. It’s no coincidence that our fortunes took a positive turn once Awoniyi came back from injury and was firing on all cylinders. 6 goals in the last 4 games has contributed massively to our survival.

I think I interpret from your posts that, as a Villa fan, you are happy to play in Europe next season? Rather than avoiding Thursday night football and having a go again at climbing league.

Think Emery will relish it.

Trophies are what fans want to win. We’re not ready for a top 4 charge but we stand a chance in any cup comp with Unai at the helm.

Need to invest in squad depth, first team is good but the bench is weak. Conference is a good experience of football twice a week but against lesser opposition. Would rather do it this way and slowly work up the league.

With Man City, Man U, Arsenal, Newcastle, Chelsea and Liverpool it’s not going to be easy to get much higher than we are now.

Owners will spend big this summer and clear out some dead wood. Its an exciting time to be a villain

Newcastle were not really ready for a top 4 charge but strange things sometimes happen (but we didnt have the issue of European football to stretch the squad).

I dont however expect us to finish top 4 next season....with European commitments (especially if we finish 3rd and drop into the Europa League and have to do the dreaded Thursday/Sunday routine) then a 6th/7th place finish (even if the squad is strengthened in depth) would still represent progress and solid consolidation in terms of whatever the "long term plan" might be.

I think you are maybe selling Newcastle a little short.

Manchester United really lack depth in their squad in terms of quality replacements in key positions. Despite that, AND the dreaded Thursday night commitments, AND cup runs to two finals, they still managed to finish in the top four, relatively comfortably as it turned out.

Much of that is doubtless down to those outside the top four having rather indifferent seasons, but if United can achieve it then Newcastle most certainly can.

Expect when Beezerk has sobered up this thread will be like when liverpool have battered Leeds and it’s there season. It’s gonna be 10pages long. That’s aside, it made me chuckle reading a post on Facebook. It went along the line of.
Barnsley men. Made with hearts of oak who worked in the bowels of the earth mining the stuff that the Industrial Revolution powered this mighty nation.
Sheffield Men, made a few spoons.
