Out of Citys 28 man squad, 8 have come through from the academy.

Be interesting to see how that compares to other prem clubs.

I’d imagine it’s far better than most other clubs. Because most other clubs have no option but to sell their decent academy products to remain within the rules of PSR.

This was last season

But I don’t think it’s right to include players that have been bought - the likes of Harvey Elliot for us

Looking at city they have 3 - Foden , Lewis and McAtee

United - Rashford , Mainoo ,Wheatley

We have - Quansah , Jones , TAA and Morton

Think Brighton’s academy is up there with getting talent through

Forest have this crazy stat that since October 1941, they have always had a homegrown player, or someone for whom Forest was their first professional team, in every single matchday squad.

That blows my mind. 🤯 Not really sure if Forest have specifically tried to do this or if it’s just a consequence of circumstances.

Do any other clubs boast a similar record?

Though I believe the run is in danger of being ended at some point soon, as I think Ryan Yates is the only one that is currently anywhere near the first team. So if he’s injured at any point that’s probably the end.

Man Utd have done the same since October 1937

The success of a clubs academy can be skewed now. Is it a local lad who genuinely came through the ranks or is it a bought in wonder kid from around the globe? The dice are being loaded if it is the latter, which is often the case with the really big boys now.
I don't know the details and rules of how clubs get their academy players. Although I suspect all Premier League and even Championship clubs can recruit excellent youth players, simply as they have a high standing in UK?

Wheras much smaller clubs less likely. I suppose if you are a top young footballer living in Lincoln or Grimsby, would it be pretty restrictive on them if they had to go through local academies? Whereas having the opportunity at some point to go to Man Utd, City, Liverpool, Arsenal or even Everton, Forest, Leeds, Palace would be much more beneficial to them?

But regardless of that, developing them enough to make it as PL players is still a big job. The bigger clubs can invest most in trying to create what they believe is the best development system to young players, so ultimately no surprise they will generally be pretty successful at it

Hence why I don’t count someone that’s been plucked from another clubs academy at the age of 16 as “club youth product”
As such - city fans going on about Bobb being the next one of the production line - they bought him last year

For genuine local lads currently playing Brighton have three who were all Sussex boys before playing for us. Dunk .March and the latest one who you should keep an eye on is Hinshelwood,he is the fourth in a family line to represent the club and so far is looking by far the best ot them . He will be another huge sale item for the Albion when the big boys come shopping.
You heard it here first . .
Oh and he played for the u21 last night .

I think Utd had the record or something similar about youth team players. It was quite impressive.

Wow!

Honestly, I wasn’t actually sure if Forest’s stat was impressive, or whether it was kind of just standard and loads of other clubs could make similar claims! 🤣
I'm pretty sure Forest's record is very impressive. I just knew that Man United held the record in that stat, and Forest are only a few years behind that

Forest fined £750,000 over the VAR post last season after the match at Goodison.

The FA had sought a £1 million fine.😱

Just to come back to this.

This made for interesting reading on Twitter, far as I was concerned:

Carlisle United fined £7,500 by FA in August 2023 for racist chanting.

Millwall fined £10,000 by FA in 2019 for racist changing v Everton in an FA Cup tie.

Gillingham fined £12,500 by FA in September 2023 for sexist and racist chanting.

Chelsea fined £460,000 in 2019 by FIFA for the exploitation and trafficking of youth players.

Nottingham Forest fined £750,000 by FA in October 2024 for sending a tweet about a referee, but wanted it to be over £1,000,000.

The authorities have their heads screwed on correctly and have definitely got their priorities right. 👍

When I read about the fine, the first thing i thought is that they are protecting the system. Personally if it was City I have a feeling that the barristers would have been involved and the comparisons made to what you have highlighted.
I have said it for a long time, football is in a bad place at the moment.
Re Citys case. I read a piece the other day where the committee that have been set up to review the rulings that the Prem league have to change. Nearly all the committee are from club that supported the Premier league. Now seeing as over half the league either liked the rules as they were so supported neither side or supported City. How is that fair or even right.

That’s how you put down anyone who complains about a dictatorship.

Silencing the truth about sub standard officials is very expensive for clubs.

But you won’t get any support from other clubs as money talks .

The reality is outside of Chelsea thosse fines are very big for clubs of that size, Forest deserved it, really poor attitude and behaviour and yes it is putting a line in the sand and telling then and any other clubs thinking of accusing referees of being biased or cheating to not. I agree with this, shut up, stop whining and go through the proper channels.

I love the way for you have defined it as Just a tweet about a referee, like yeah right.

Any professional club Publicly questioning a referees integrity is beyond the pale. It cannot and should not be tolerated. I would argue the £750k fine is too lenient.

Looks a bit more balanced

Walker as a left back

I saw the BBC Sport headline saying Henderson was starting, and panic set in.

Until I realised they meant Dean.
