Currently watching the Utd, Chelsea and Celtic games.
Is there a goalkeeper that worse than Onana with his distribution in the prem league.

Really? Not been at his best distribution wise this evening, Tash, but it’s generally pretty good.

Just an observation, VAR isn’t perfect and needs improvement, but don’t be fooled in to thinking they’ve got it right in other Countries that have it, there’s been some absolute stinkers on the Continent this season.

It really isn't. Whether that's down to him or the lack of movement from the midfield and their touch remains to be seen but he's not in the same class as the best ball playing keepers. Throw in his poor handling at crosses, positioning and shot stopping then there's not much going for him apart from he seems a likeable guy.

Have to say that was one of the best games I've seen all season, both teams set up well and went for it in different styles. Utd looking dangerous on the break and Newcastle creating a lot of chances playing some decent stuff. The scoreline flattered you though, frustrating as I had Burn and Isak in my FF team and they both missed great chances. Isak on pens too

I agree, but he’s been injured most of the season. (Knee)

He looks very composed on the ball, skilful and has an eye for goal.

Let's be honest here, Antony will start in the FA Cup Final as ETH will be too afraid to leave his signing out. Diallo is only playing because these games are dead rubbers.

That's an interesting assessment. Especially as Antony has been left out of the starting line up of many games this season. Including matches like the QF v Liverpool and SF v Coventry

Well it's just my take, we'll see what happens in a few weeks.

Utd fan here. When team's are looking to replace a player they should be better than what's already there.
Is Onana any better than de Gea? I personally don't think he is.
Of course, there were plenty of fans moaning about De Gea last year. If he had a few years left on his contract, fair enough. But, he was the highest earner at the club, and a decision had to be made.

Had they signed an extension to his contract, on the money he wanted, then I guarantee many would still moan he isn't the right style of keeper, and now we are stuck with yet another player on a massive contract for several years.

So, once De Gea wasn't willing to sign the contract he was offered, Utd bought a highly rated keeper.

He had had a nightmare in Champions League. However, he's generally been pretty good in league, especially second half of season. But people don't remember his good moments, like tonight when he made good saves. Instead, they remember him conceding a good amount of goals, which is inevitable when the team concede more than 20 or 30 shots a game.

I don't think De Gea in nets this season would have helped us in the league, but probably would have done in Europe.

He may well play, he is part of the squad after all.

But, if he does play, the reason being that ETH is too scared to leave him out is quite obviously rubbish.

Of course it isn't rubbish. Managers stick by their big money signings through ego, even if it's obviously the wrong decision.

Diallo has looked brilliant in recent games, if he doesn't start in the FA Cup Final (bar injury) it will be down to ETH being pig headed.

Always thought it was a slightly peculiar ending to de Gea’s time at the club, but at the same time it had felt for a while as though he was on the way out. And perhaps the primary reason for that is that, for all his undoubted shot stopping talents, he was truly awful with the ball at his feet. And as many observers correctly pointed out, a good number of the saves he had to make were a direct result of his poor distribution inviting pressure.

Onana did not make the best start, and has taken time to find his feet, but I actually quite like him. Foreign goalkeepers often take time to settle, not all do, but certainly the second half of this season he has been pretty solid behind an ever changing back four which, itself, has had precious little protection for much of the season.

Too early to compare Onana to de Gea for me. Regardless, there are far bigger problems elsewhere. I am really liking the look of some of the youngsters, but a massive clearout is still required. Varane and Martial being off the wage bill is a start. But they need to be followed out of the door by Rashford, Casemiro, AWB, Antony, McTominay, Lindelof, Eriksen and others.

We keep talking of rebuilds, but they can only start once the deadwood and bad apples are gone. Once again, and I seem to say this every summer, but it’s about who leaves just as much as who is brought in.

That is simply garbage.

I've already said Antony had been left out of loads of games. So, all you are doing is creating an anti ETH narrative that when Antony is selected, it is because ETH is pig headed. Then you can just ignore all the occasions Antony isn't picked.

Besides, if ETH was that pig headed, I'm sure Antony would have played tonight

Antony has under performed this season starting the vast majority of games on the RW when fit. He also missed games when the club made him unavailable due to a criminal case which has skewed the stats. Diallo has looked excellent in his limited recent run of games in the same position.

It's my opinion when the pressure is really on, ETH will pick his favourite.

The league is nothing now, hence why his other favourite Hojland was dropped tonight. He will also start in the FA Cup Final for similar reasons to Antony

I was thinking about this while watching the match this evening. Of the players Utd currently have, the ones that I'd be looking to keep would be Onana (I can see the arguments against this but he was immense for Inter before joining Utd and very highly rated so I'd give him at least one more season), Martinez, Dalot, Shaw, Fernandes, Mainoo, Garnacho, Amad and Hojland. I've probably missed a couple, but if I was a Man Utd fan, anyone else I wouldn't be upset if they left. I think that's the foundations of a decent starting XI. Imagine those players but with a few world class additions (I'm not suggesting Utd could sign these players but using it as an example)......

Onana

Dalot
Ruben Dias/John Stones
Martinez
Shaw

Mainoo
Declan Rice
Fernandes
Garnacho
Amad

Hojland

That's a pretty decent starting XI and to my mind wouldn't be far off challenging for titles.
