That’s what I thought but updates were part of a payment plan ?Over the air - clue is there mate lol.
They update via wifi. Yes, cars have wifi now...

Depends on the update type but generally the OTA ones can be done by downloading the file to a USB and sticking that into the car. It’s no great hassle but I’m lazy and prefer to have the car do things like that for me.

Can you do it via your phone for example? Use your phone to connect to 5g then download update into car ?
No, not as far as I know. You either have the car WiFi with the OTA updates or the more ‘old school’ downloading the file and using a USB stick method.
Cheers for the info - surprised they don’t allow the phone to connect and update via thatNo, not as far as I know. You either have the car WiFi with the OTA updates or the more ‘old school’ downloading the file and using a USB stick method.
I'm not sure what your other point of view isDespite me trying to have a laugh at the evangelists, it turns nasty, because there simply isn't another point of view, so should just shut up if you have an opinion other than positive. Always ends up the same. Not sure why every EV owner loses their sense of humour, but as a discussion forum, they should be discussed, nit just hailed as the best thing ever.
It's not all about the 'facts', but, as you say, the convenience and it's not yet good enough for sole ownership, unless you are prepared to instil the inconveniences into your life plan. Blame your kids for needing a break when your battery needs charging etc. Madness.
Second car, home charger, tootling around locally - great option.

You'd soon find youd use the EV as much as possible. If we had off road parking to allow us to charge the car I suspect we would have got an EV as a second car mainly for the wife to pop to work and back a couple times a week and then to hockey
My guess is that it adds an additional unknown to the process in terms of different phones running different OS and it’s just more trouble than it’s worth ensuring compatibility.
We have a Kona 22 plate and compared to my Toyota RAV 4 Hybrid its is much more pleasurable to drive, and when we have taken for a journey that the total mileage is greater that its range we have just had to plan for a stop, plus £12 for 285 miles what not to loveI don't get it. The threads about EVs yet a 3rd of the posts are from the anti EV brigade with outdated views and misinformation.
Everytime the thread comes up you get a few derailers who want to say why they still don't want an EV. How X and y doesn't suit..nothing changing from before adding zero to the discussion just boosting their post count.
One of the Few posters with real bad issue with an EV that's worth listening to is @cliveb . Actual real world experience of a bad issue with his daughter. Yet any positive posts are knocked down as "a cult" because it can't be that people actually prefer it than before.
I used to be on a car forum before it closed. Long before EVs and always talked about cars. Yet now it's EV must be a cult
I've driven many cars over the years
Honda civic 51 plate
Mitsubishi colt 06 plate
Mitsubishi lancer 08 plate
Bmw 320d 06 plate
Golf 08 plate
Toyota auris hybrid 11 plate
Honda civic 59 plate
Honda hrv 18 plate
Corsa 20 plate
Seat Alhambra 16 plate
Kia niro 73 plate
Hyundai Kona 20 plate
Apart from the BMW which was very fun to drive the Kia blows them all out of the water
However the Alhambra had more power than the BMW due to upgrade in tech overtime
Ive driven EV since 2020 so 5 years now and I would not return to ice
Sure the savings are great but I prefer the driving and the lack of needing to leave My house to fill up is great.
They do exist, but it relies on the manufacturer giving access to their API which more and more are stopping.Prob won’t be long before people are developing their own apps to connect to cars etc
I'm not sure what your other point of view istoday your post was some nonsnse about losing 46 miles if I pre cool my car. Then it's the tired old trope about the inconvenience of it all.
If you don't want one don't get one , but don't pretend to know what it's like based on stuff you've read on the internet. Ive had 0 issues and have driven to enormous distances, all without little kids!

Oh was a joke...Had your Haribo and now full of energy for a stab have you?
Petey, my 46 miles was a joke, chill. The inconvenience is real. Glad it works for you, but I can assure you, it does not work for me and that is also the case for a large number of the population.
Spout all you want, but please don't take away our opinions, internet based or otherwise. Now, I will let you run out of steam, as we don't get on, and pop off to watch Tommy Fleetwood hopefully win this tournament.
