The all things EV chat thread

Jeez it's a bloody car. It's not covered by the official secrets act and if you drove it on the road it's out in the public domain 🙄
It could be on the road but it could also be in the black and white checks that mfrs use to mess up photos from the motoring press. It can be out there but still secret.

If it is out on the road then it is in the public domain. The manufacturer isn't going to ask every member of the public that sees it not to talk about it.

No, but @PhilTheFragger is not an ordinary member of the public in this situation. He has been asked to move / test a car and a degree of secrecy is clearly part of the job. The car will be largely unmarked and to the general public, they are unlikely to be able to spot what it is, unless they are a car enthusiast. The likes of Auto Express and Auto Bild often have pictures of these unmarked test cars and without a journalist explaining what they are, most would be unrecognisable.

As far as I'm aware fragger is a delivery driver not a motoring journalist. Delivery drivers drive cars on roads not private test tracks. Unless of course he has changed jobs and you have insider knowledge?

They do drive new models on public roads wrapped in a black and white material designed to obfuscate the look of the car. There may also be NDAs in effect, not saying there is in fragger's case but have know a few folk that have been involved with PSA group and had to sign NDAs that would be costly if breached.

I get what you are saying but I'm sticking to my hunch that the above doesn't apply in this case but maybe I'm wrong 🤷‍♀️

Can I just make the observation that a new electric SUV is hardly revelatory news.
It would be more interesting if it WASN'T an SUV.

It's the price that's the key. Under 30k is normal car pricing
