The all things EV chat thread

Why does it have to cripple the economy? Sorry thats just daily mail hyperbole, there is plenty of money to be made out of investing toward lessening the impact of climate change.
Sadly many like to stick with what they know , with EVs being a Great example, with many preferring to believe rubbish about them as opposed to seriously look at getting one.
Perhaps many don't see them as the answer, when you consider the amount of damage that is done to recover the resources required to make them. Just perhaps the step after them is the better and preferred option, and in the meantime looking at a fuel for ICE that is cleaner is a cheaper and less harmful way forward.

Always the same Pete. People are so stubborn they refuse to adapt. EVs are now affordable and practical but you will still get people refusing as they don't want to have to stop on a 300 mile drive. How dare we all make very small adjustments to our lifestyle to reduce emissions.

I mean wait until the lifestyle changes they face as a consequence of ignorance

And mining oil then burning it is such a clean process

The world economic forum reckons otherwise…

Or are they “far right” too?

You are right, there needs to be change, EVs and making our society greener must be our aim but it has to be done thoughtfully and at a slower pace, as per the news article earlier, rash decisions even for the right reasons are not good for our economy.

Well done btw for getting the phrase “Daily Mail hyperbole” into your post… It’s great fun playing “Liberal left bingo” 😆

If we go any slower we might aswell not bother

We need action not talk

Formula 1 techies are developing E-fuels, so carbon neutral, that will be able to go into your every day car on the street.
It's lab created, so no mining or burning.

Been doing so for years. Still require a lot of power to produce where as an EV is the most efficient way of doing it.

E fuels have a place but they are part of the picture not the end game.

Thank you. TBF though Google daily mail net zero, then tell me I'm wrong 😜.

On a different note, it's freezing out, but car is lovely and warm ! Pre conditioning is worth it alone !!

But we are taking Action…

Maybe not fast enough for you or Greta but the U.K. is a world leader is sustainability.

Then why on earth do you want to slow it down? There is money to be made being market leaders in green energy.

2 things the Stellantis job losses are related to a number of things ..
Bad quality
Low demand
Inability to export .. the UK market is not big enough to support them.
You don’t think Brexit is to blame ? 🤭🤭
The motor industry isn’t supported by the £40k luxury car tax thresholds or vehicle taxing on a whole
Electric charging infrastructure or the charging costs

If they cared about emissions they would be hammering pre 2014 petrol and 2017 diesel.. they are not.

Now other point.
Friend at work said he sent his car back to service because the charging was not working.. kept switching off , changing times etc .. he thought it was an issue associated to his brand, but I said no the BMW does it as well .. it’s the software.

Yeah they also make crap vans it's not exclusive to cars

Vauxhall is a stain on the car industry , if the entire brand disappeared tomorrow it wouldn't be bad thing
Blimey - extensive knowledge of vans

Amazing that for a “crap Van” it was still one of the top 5 in the UK

“Stain on the car industry”

You clearly have zero empathy for people that will be losing their livelihood

Oh get off your high horse Phillip

Vauxhall make awful products that are out performed both economically and build quality wise by almost every other car brand

Top 5? Pfft another issue. If they can't get on par with the transit no point
