Perhaps many don't see them as the answer, when you consider the amount of damage that is done to recover the resources required to make them. Just perhaps the step after them is the better and preferred option, and in the meantime looking at a fuel for ICE that is cleaner is a cheaper and less harmful way forward.Why does it have to cripple the economy? Sorry thats just daily mail hyperbole, there is plenty of money to be made out of investing toward lessening the impact of climate change.
Sadly many like to stick with what they know , with EVs being a Great example, with many preferring to believe rubbish about them as opposed to seriously look at getting one.
