It doesn't quite tell the whole story though, does it? The extraction of oil, the pollution out of the exhaust pipe........EV are not a panacea but then neither are ICE cars

Food for thought

Where to start

People would be used to the distance traveled so they wouldn't be massively bothered , EV only gets that press because it's a change from what's the norm

The roads would have been built differently. They would have to have been if all were EV

None recyclable? Apart from the fact they are recyclable.. used for other things ..

What questions it really does ask is just how much blindly wrong information are people willing to look past to try and support their point?

It's always the same with anti EV pictures. They throw in half Ill thought out comments to try to convince people their fact.

I guess the real answer to most of the issues with ice cars and EVs replacing them is people taking public transport and coaches more than just driving.

Real radical ideas but hey 😉

Not viable in so many parts of the country sadly. You are spoilt in London.

If only railways hadn't been closed and motorways built because of contract connections to those dealing with the beachings report at the time.

But yes we are spoilt

Newcastle metros pretty good tho lol 🤣 visited that as an apprentice

The Metro is great, it just doesn't go to enough places. If they want us out of our cars it should be a major project to spread the Metro further afield. It won't happen though ☹️

We need more railways. HS2 was a crime. That should have been built in the north on cheaper land first rather than buying up expenses land in the south then stopping where actually needs the improvement

The whole point of HS2 was to get lorries off the road again. Which would ease congestion and also reduce emissions

I couldn't get to work via train and I think for a bus I would have to use two or have a long walk. It's six miles away in the next town as well.

Which is entirely down to those in charge forcing people into their cars rather than providing viable alternatives

Have to admit when I retire I'd be tempted to go down to 1 car and get cabs a lot of places

This is it, there is an assumption that public transport is an option for everyone when rural communities do not have that readily available. You also look at train routes around the east midlands and to get to a number of places not htat far away would take a train into and out of London or Birmingham.

Which is entirely the point. It's been criminally run for profit rather than who it's for. The public

Spot on .
i worked 6 miles from home but there was no direct bus route
main problem was I worked shifts.
If you think it’s difficult to get a bus in normal times at 10.30 pm it’s non existent.

I used to cycle to work in summer but that’s tough after a long shift to cycle home.

We havnt had a proper transport policy in my lifetime and it looks like nothing is really changing in the future.!

Maybe it's a ploy. Keep public transport difficult to force people into EVs when they tax ice cars even further

Let's be honest as ice cars get phased out they will be subject to higher tax, fuel will be more taxed and service stations won't be as easy to find as they are now.

Most roads in the UK are just to narrow to have a proper cycle network.
Public transport in Liverpool is quite good. If your going to the city centre.

I have a cycle lane at the top of my road that will take me to Hull without going on any roads. ( run by a charity) like to many things in this country.
But there isn’t one to get to Liverpool city centre ???

I would buy an EV if they were not so expensive .
One would suit me ,I don’t drive much now.
I paid £2600 for my VW brand new the equivalent EV was nearly £42000. That needs to change
