Googled the Helen Rollason Award, which is for 'outstanding achievement in the face of adversity'. I suppose that the adversity wasn't his, but his outstanding achievement highlighted the courageous way other fine sports people were facing their adversity, while raising funds to combat the illness in future. So I agree he should receive it.

He is certainly more than worthy of the recognition or indeed any other recognition for what he has done - phenomenal, MND being highlighted is key to helping battle it and Kevin Sinfield has been key that - Rob Burrow could also win it

Agree, the problem is we need this sort of thing reporting to bring it to our attention, the mods all have jobs/ lives and we only look at a fraction of posts daily.
So if anyone spots a thread going round in circles or more importantly, if you are feeling wound up because of someone’s responses and are temped to bite back, stop and report it instead ?

Only dipped in and out of Sports Personality for several years after becoming disillusioned with how showbiz it had become, and from hearing too much of the presenters and not enough from the sports people. Really impressed with this year’s show so far.
Great to see some of the fringe sports, and sports people getting some airtime. You never know, it might help some sports grow…

I voted for Eve. She's been at the top of her sport for a long time. A sport that won't pay her that much if at all. The true olympian spirit.
