SPOTY 2025

I hear people talking about all the sports the BBC has lost over the year, and then I read on the BBC website that the Commonwealth Games will now be shown on TNT rather than the BBC. The BBC simply couldn't compete with the price TNT were willing to pay.

Watched it coz Mrs H had it on, and I actually enjoyed it. The pieces were short enough not to bore but included enough to make it interesting, even if it was a sport I’m not fussed about.

I’ll give it 8/10 from me.

I always enjoy it , was a good review of the year

It is a shame it’s not a Sunday anymore

But I’m not sure what other sports awards shows there are but at least they don’t drag it out

If they can't afford the £3.50 required to get the TV rights for the Commonwealth Games then they really are in trouble 😳

Or the fact that the BBC is supposedly the premier broadcaster of the lead nation of the entire commonwealth (or should I say the nation of the head of the commonwealth)and can’t compete to get the games it should lead in says a lot. But then apparently I’m not supposed to comment on this thread 😂

Might be worth renaming the thread to a general BBC thread

But Warner Bros out bid the BBC

As with all the other sports - they have just looked at the initial money they can grab

One event that needed eyes on is the Commonwealth Games so I guess it’s ok knowing they will have less viewers but more money into pockets

There will potentially also be some stuff broadcast on free to air

very little the BBC can do
