Speed of play

Normally play about 3pm on Saturdays 4 hrs 45 mins usually.
played this morning 7.30 because of party in afternoon 3hrs 15 mins .
will play early from now on as I played better not waiting around .
Cant see how it can take so long.

The crux of the problem is the 'Americanisation' of the sport. They love dragging things out with time outs and play stoppages to increase the drama and sell more advertising space. The main problem is the officials not the players. Just last night I timed a number of holes of the senior open. The average time taken per shot for one group was, Daly 16 seconds, Woosnam 37 seconds, Langer 1 minute 19 seconds. Don't get me wrong, Langer is a great player who I have enjoyed watching for decades but he has been allowed to dictate the pace of play to the entire field for far too long. Last night the group was warned then put on the clock and finished 2 holes behind the group ahead but nothing happens. It is not fair play or in the spirit of the game for one player to slow down the entire field.

Love it. Let everyone in your club know. Pace of play needs a grass roots revolution. It only takes one slow player to disrupt 100 or more.
