snapchat

I hadn't come across it before so I just watched a couple of YouTube videos on how to use it and then downloaded it, but it comes across as more of a direct messaging platform rather than an Instagram/Twitter platform that anyone can come across any content, join/follow and comment on, and like you say, with the photo messages only being live for 10 seconds, I'm struggling to understand who the GM audience would be?!

GM can add a snapchat story over a period with different users over the country and it will all come together as one if they have more than one user adding to it. Ultimately it was designed as an instant messenger short view picture platform but it has evolved a bit.

I can see the merits in it, mainly because I use snapchat.

Same. If you have a few people with access, uploading short videos or pics, then it probably would become quite immersive

I thought that, but it would need to be careful with how the output looked - you wouldn't really want it jumping from user 1, to user 2, to user 3, back to 2, then 1, then 4 etc etc as it would become very muddled. Plus the practicality challenge of only being able to be logged in at once.

But if planned correctly, giving access to 1 person per day on small rota or something similar could really work. Some could be having lessons, fittings, playing a new course, attending event etc to cover various aspects of us golfing addicts!

I'm interested, can be very entertaining using snapchat.

The power of snapchat is incredible, any company or organisation not using it should have a look into it imo.

This thread has encouraged me to give snap chat another go. Any recommendations of good people to follow.

I've found a couple of people to follow, I suppose that's just by making them friends, is it? Still not got my head fully around the [stories] bit yet or found any of these golf [PGA Tour] stories or people like Rick Shiels to follow yet, I'm not fully up to speed with it yet, but I'll get there :smirk:

The best so far imo are Rickie, Justin & Danny.

A Google search throws up lots of options.

Where do you find these, I've used the search feature but only my own contacts come up, I'm not finding it the easiest thing to navigate around?

You can't search within snapchat, you have to know the username.

I just Googled something like "best golfers to follow on snapchat".

I agree it's not very intuitive, but actually think it's well laid out. It's just a case of getting used to it.

I also Googled "snapchat for beginners" or something along those lines.

I like Google.

Just to add to this, Rickie is very very good at social media.
Danny Lee is pretty funny.

JT should be interesting this week because he, Spieth and a few others rent the same house for the week at the Valspar tournament.
His 'story' yesterday included videos of him ripping Spieth for missing a green with a 9 iron, somebody playing a shot from water, and inside the house with loads of boys toys including a golf sim - all open plan.

Thanks for that, no wonder I'm struggling!

Well we could sell quite a few t-shirts to some members on here with that printed on :smirk:

It has made me wonder whether this could be a tool to bring to life the forum meets a bit more. Birchy you mentioned being interested could you share your username and snap chat the next North West Alliance meet?

I'm hoping to get a bit more familiar with it over the next few days so I can attempt to put a story together on it for The Berkshire meet and learn from that in readiness for the Woburn meet.

I thought that too.
From my limited understanding though, it looks like the live events are ones that snapchat create. I don't know if it's possible for anyone to create an event that multiple users can contribute to.

I'm also starting to feel guilty about taking the thread away from the original question. Maybe an idea for a mod to split into 2 different threads?

I don't think you put a story together as such, you just post pic/vid after pic/vid to the equivalent of your facebook page, and people who follow you can view them for 24hrs, after which they disappear forever.

 possibly give Mike and the team view of how it could work for the magazine with kit testing rather than meets been highlighted...

I don't think it needs splitting, it's all relevant, it's brought it to the attention of those, like me, that wasn't fully aware of it and are now trying it out and as such, Mike and his team along with forumites can now look up people to follow/friend with reviews of what they've bought and a series of posts to create a storyline when attending a meet.

By the way, my username is Fish2318

Good idea, all parts of the story last 24 hours so older parts drop off in time.

I've did it a few times when away at the rugby and on holiday for my family to see
