was on the blower discussing the open with my mate just now and we both commented on how much we enjoyed Sir Nick on the beeb. I like him on the PGA Tour coverage in the states but it would be great too see him on Sky in the studio doing some of the shot stuff etc.

I know theres no chance and I am probably in the minority aswell.

he is a lot better than some of the others we see week in week out.

No.

I can't stand his supposed sense of humour. He just makes me cringe, but the Americans seem to like him, so hopefully that is where he will stay.

i know faldo isnt everyones cup of tea,but i think he was pretty good,as was tony jacklin.
i havent got sky,so cant comment on that, but a few more of the ex pro's commentating/shareing their thoughts, on the beeb makes it a bit more interesting.
saying that, i still enjoyed peter aliss and "on the course with ken" brown.

He livened it up abit at least this week. The commentators for the first couple of days sounded like they'd been hand picked from a SAGA convention. Sky are pretty well covered though.

I thought Faldo wasn't too bad actually apart from when he keeps mentioning Tiger and his 'levels'. It made a pleasant change from just listening to Peter Alliss. He does make the occasional muff up... but don't we all..... Ernie to win!! :D

I think yes...he called the situation with Scott and Els four holes out and has some interesting swing analysis...got to be PA's heir apparent if the beeb continues with golf coverage! As for Sky rather listen to him than Miserable Monty and Mark Roe!

No thanks, monotone Faldo.

Sky have Coltart who is a million times better.

I enjoyed Sir Nick's contributions but doubt Sky are looking to increase their team.

I may be in a minoroty but my favourite in the Sky studio is Dennis Pugh who is knowledgeable, has a sense of humour and is capable of explaining his points very clearly.

Coltart? LMAO! Sir Nick added several different dimensions to the weekend coverage. It was really dull over the first couple of days. Jacklin just isn't very good at TV at all & whilst Alliss is good with his pleasant diversions he is not really in touch with the modern game. Think he will probably stay in the states as he is appreciated more over there.

Can't go him as a person if im honest but as a commentator/pundit heis pretty good but it would take big £££££ to get him away from the US.

Cant see it happening.

I thought he was very good, and surprised me with how entertaining he was.

I can see how he would get up people's noses, but I have to say that listening to soemone who KNOWS what it's like to fight for a majopr and win was insightful.

Robert Lee, Wayne Riley, Monty, Mark Roe, Andrew Coltart, Ewen Murray, Bruce Critchley, Richard Boxall... all entertaining in their own ways, but they've never actually been there and won it have they?

I think there is a place for both types of commentator....

If Faldo is monotone what does that make Coltart?

Really enjoy Faldo's commentary and having him commentate on the PGA every week is ideal.

Articulate and intelligent, knowledgeable and basically excellent.

Faldo drives you to sleep with his boring voice.

Faldo is light years ahead of Coltart on every level............seems its a few Scots that don't take to Mr Faldo.

Its all a moot point as he's had extensions to his USA contracts
