Shot of The Masters?

Cabrera's approach on the 72nd hole for me as well. Scott's putt on the same hole was good under pressure but he didn't know he HAD to hole it. Cabrera knew he had to get up and down from 170yds just to force a play-off.

Not wanting to take this off topic, but I'm not convinced Cabrera's tee shot on the 2nd extra hole was a 1 iron or a driving iron like the commentators suggested. We'd seen a fair amount of coverage of him before that and I never saw him use it. Why would you take a 1 iron to a major and not use it?
I just think it was whatever was the longest iron he had in the bag.

I'll go for Cabrera's driving iron on the 2nd play off hole. Now that's how to play a hole that doesn't suit your shot shape. Just blast a 1 iron past most other players drivers... Old school....

Why are people getting excited about a long iron down the fairway? If ANY top pro can't do that he shouldn't be playing the game.

You're probably right. It's hard to understand why the 10th is considered one of the hardest holes at Augusta and played over par average all week....

They can all hit top shots on demand, that's why they are pros. It the shots under pressure that count.

That's why I reckon the best shots of the weekend were; cabreras approach on 18 in regulation, and more impressively Scott's 6 iron from 210, to get inside his oppo on the 2nd play off hole.

I normaly like your post mate ........BUT

If a pro cant break par should he be playing ?.
If he cant hole a 4ft putt should he be playing ?

10 on a par 3 ?, shouldn't be a pro ?

so so many , for any professional sports person to pull of a shot like that under that pressure has to be recognised ..

not just the shot but that shot under pressure is the reason

I understand your points about breaking par, holing putts etc and there are valid reasons for those such as tricked up greens etc at Augusta.

But sorry, hitting a fairway with an iron, especially a pretty generous one like the 10th is nothing special.

APOLOGIES mate I misread your last post , I was talking bout his shot into 18 to force the playoff not the shot on 10 .. id expect a pro to be able to do that aswell

MY BAD ... Sorry

Guan's putt on the 36th hole to make the cut was pretty good. Ben Crenshaw was willing it in with some body English. Cabrera's chip on the first play off hole was good, unlucky not to go in, and a harder chip than Scotts, as he had to carry it further up the green. Amazing the slope at the front of the 18th green, looks flat on tv.

Shot of the Masters for me was Scotts putt on 18. He thought he had it to win and he hit it with decent pace. So easy to leave it short. Really pleased he won after the way he conducted himself after the Open last year. Scott and Cabrera showed what golf is all about, true sportsman, and a credit to the great game.

I'll go jointly for Cabrera's shot to 18 in regulation play and Scott's shot to the 10th in the play off. Both hit under great pressure and executed superbly.

Ping Tour retweeted this from David Dusek (who writes for Golfweek)
"That was a @PingTour i20 3-iron that @cabrera_pato just vaporized on #10." And the fact that it was only just behind Scott's 3 wood was awesome.

For me Cabrera's shot to 18, as his was the "must make" pressure shot.

For me, it was Tigers lob shot on day 3.

9th hole, par 4. Came up short off the pinestraw after a poor drive. Full lob wedge from just off the front edge of the green. Pitches it into the fringe grass next to the bunker and lets the contours feed the ball down just pass the hole to about 8ft.

I'm with the OP - Cabrera's 2nd into 18 was brilliant, shame he didn't go on to win.

Also, Bubba's put on the 12th for a massive TEN.
I'm a massive fan of that putt - nice to see someone take a triple triple? bogey ;) although i reckon i could have done that on their greens without the water element ;)

i liked his comment in his interview tho about sinking the putt for a 10
