Two shots.

Ok drive, right hand first cut, 137 to back pin.

Nine iron, pin high, misses green by three yards on left hand side. Never found it.

N/r.

Magic.

Couldn't see the point of walking back, and holding up the whole field. Not fair on playing partners. Walking also not easy at the moment.
 
Ouch. The rough on our course is really long and tough at the moment since the bad weather/closure so very easy to lose a ball in it. Playing it when you've found it isn't easy either.

I played in a pairs comp today and it sure was a funny old game. We scored 41 points (44 looks like winning) but on the 11th I hit a lovely wedge straight up into a tree (NOT the plan) and we watched and waited but nothing came out and eventually we saw it suspended on a tiny branch. Then on the 14th I hit my ball from the rough smack into my partners ball in the rough sending mine between the roots of another tree.

Gotta love this game :rolleyes:

Had my 1st N/R yesterday too, Final of Club Cup too
My 2nd shot on 12, caught a tree, seen it bounce, got up there, found 2 balls, but couldnt find my own
As it was scorching hot, course full, and already exceptionally Slow round, I took my 5 mins, then decided NOT to walk the 180yds back down the fairway........N/R
Pained me to do so, but for the above reasons, couldn't bring myself too
Obviously, after that, and being out of it, I went onto burn it up, 5 pars & a bogey......!!

Up to 9.6, so back to ten.

Not what I wanted at all.

@amanda, yes, I tore of most of the toe nail on my big toe last night. Right foot, so hard to hold that follow through. It all looks a bit Lionel. I have previous on this, it's the fourth time I have done it to the same toe.

But would you not agree that if you know your holding up play and you have no chance of recovering your handicap that the most sensible thing to do would be to NR....

I commend Murph and to be honest from the sounds of his description then after that 9 iron you would imagine there was no need to hit a provisional.....
I would have done the exact same thing in his case....A card can still be handed in for handicapping purposes i think.....It just means that he's out of the comp.......

The thing with a situation like his was that i know from my own perspective that when something like that happens it tends to throw me out of whack and i start rushing everything.
 
Have to admit in this situ I wouldve walked back, main reason being at ours it seems you cant collect on 2s sweep if NR'ed before the 2 and would want my 4 chances of a 2

I don't go in the twos. Since club 2k was installed in 2007 I have had two. The odds are not good. Three of our par threes are 200 plus, and the other is a nasty 130 odd par 5.

Sounds nasty and having injured toe nails running and playing hockey I feel your pain and it's crazy how restrictive the pain makes most dynamic movements.

I switched to stable ford straight away, and then went bogie, bogie, double, double, stuff it.

It made the computer entry easy though.

Dreadful! You've let yourself RIGHT down there!!!

137 yards to the green and you hit 9 iron? Have you read none of the long hitting threads? That's a 60 degree lob wedge all day long... :whistle:

I knew that the minute I hit it. Should have hit a wedge, probably 50 degree. Trouble is, I've only had this swing since Monday, and I have no idea how far it goes. Silly really, as I had hit the same 9i 157 on friday, and again on Saturday. But in old world figures (ok, last week), a 9i was 130.

You borrowed Smiffys whilst he's away?

Can't say you did the right thing.... walking back to hit a wedge is hardly holding up the field. If you're going to do that why bother turning up at all?.... do you have to start a round par, par, birdie in order to finish it?
