Right chaps a question for you. There was a really good post recently about hitting your wedges using the bounce which is something I've been working on. Realised today that my duffs are happening when I hinge the wrists too much so still come in leading edge first.

Anyway that's all an aside. There seem to be three 'swings' excluding putting. Sweeping your woods on the up, compressing your irons and 'bouncing' your wedges. Problem I have is that when my woods are going well, I thin my wedges and irons. And when my irons are going well I fat my drives and wedges. In short whichever of the 'swings' is on song affects all the others. Anyone else have the same issue?

I think you're experiencing the common scenario known as being a golfer. We all know that most games you play, one or more facets will be off key and yet you might drive like a 300 yard newbie or chip like a god. Its on those rare occasions everything comes together that makes it all worth while

To be honest I don't really focus on the different swing types as you describe them. I make sure my address position (aim, posture etc) is good and then trust the swing to do the job

Same swing different ball positions. IMO its wrong to focus on the ball or the type of club in your hand for that matter. Swing the same dont think hit down , sweep up. Just swing through and providing the ball is in the right place in your stance you'll be fine. Thats what I think anyway.

One swing fits all. As said the ball position in your stance will take care of the rest. Plus the width of your stance. Why make it more complicated trying to do 3 differant swings?

Thanks for the comments gents. I think you are right about keeping the swing consistent but referring back to Valentino I tried that yesterday when I practiced and the results were good. So I guess my swing is probably too steep so I need a shallower swing full stop.

With regards to ball position I play the ball in the middle of my stance for wedges and short irons so I guess I need to make sure I keep the shaft neutral with wedges but slightly forward with short irons.

Got lessons starting again in a couple of weeks but in the meantime here's hoping this helps. Ta muchly
