Then we can all be late together.

Doh, please elaborate, what sort of experience are you looking for? I have played 4 ball better ball every saturday (pretty much) for the last 20 years, but I have never entered the Dialy Mail, or played serious golf. I have played club matches etc, but what are you looking for?

just wondering what time everyone was planning on getting there (those that are travelling up in the morning) and wether the plan was to drive straight to the club, because I was planning on setting off a bit earlier, dropping my car off at the travel lodge and getting a taxi to the course so i could have a few celebratory drinks in the clubhouse after the first round when team england have built up a big lead :D
was just interested in what everyone else was planning on doing.

The course is a good 8 mile taxi ride mind Tincup,I would offer you a lift down but I will most likely be at thw course from early morning.Sure on of the Scot guys could take you down as the Travelodge is right on the by-pass.

What part of wakefield are you from?
I'm in WF11.

Me & Tony N are travelling on the morning. Tony is travelling up from Chester (early start) and leaving his motor at mine, then straight on the A1 from here.
You can follow me if you want or vice versa.

Is Robo from Yorks as well?

I think it is daft if everyone is travelling up seperately.
Greenhouse effect and all that.

Graham, are you hitting the A1 as well?

I've decided to follow murph's idea. Start off Thursday evening, stop over around Leeds and carry on from there in the morning. (I don't fancy a 5 - 6 hour drive before I play)

If should get to Berwick early enough to check in at the B&B first, then run down to the course, otherwise straight to the course.

Just wanted to know if people have experience of doubles matchplay as team tactic's in this fromat can be very handy by the same token if wrong decisons are made could give the advantage to to opposition.I dont want to throw two people together who have never played in this format.

Also would be good to know as Im02 pointed out if anyone has played the course before.

Hi Vig
i am from WF1, just outside town centre, I think it would be a good idea if we travel in a convoy of some sorts, I will be borrowing tom tom from work so I dont think it matters who follows who, will organise something closer to the date

There is a travel lodge type hotel near me, I'm 12 miles south of Leeds. Probably cheaper. TWO minutes from A1M and no traffic to battle through to get back on to it..

Sounds good to me

Guys just to give you an idea of times I go up and down to Colton Leeds regular to see my sister and from her house 2 mins from junction 46 of the M1 it takes me 2hrs 20/30 on a good clear run to Berwick but getting past the Metro Centre at Newcastle can be a nightmare if hit at the wrong time but should you hit it later than say 9.15/30 you should get around that bit ok and be at Berwick within 1hr 10 at the most.

vig cheers, I'm already booked into a Travelodge just off the M1. Got it at their cheaper price, so all is not lost.

just goes to show how useless search engines can be - I was hunting for somewhere all along the A1.

dodger, what time does it get bad around Newcastle?

Jeezy peeps, lads. There's dedication for you. Well done.

From Edinburgh we're only 1.5 hours to Goswick. Just a casual jaunt. See, I told you Berwick was Scottish! I feel a home advantage coming on.

Around the Toon is at its worst from 7.30 to 9.15 I would say. It's only dual carraige way which aint enough to handle rush hour traffic, sometimes it keeps moving but sometimes it can be a real ***.

It's that bloody Angel of the North thing that slows the whole thing down. Every time I go past it on the A1 past Noocastle I say "Ok, this time, I'm not going to look at it". But it never works.
