3.3b. Scoring in Stroke Play
When the round has ended:
The marker must certify the hole scores on the scorecard.

How can 'certification' work without identification
As with the EG app, you are asked to attest the score electronically, that puts an electronic marker from you against the score. Way more reliable as evidence of certification than a squiggle on a scorecard or a touch screen.

When you input a card in EG there is no verification signature- the person attesting the card doesn’t sign anything
I’m sure on the EG App, you sign the screen then send the card to the attester who also has to sign the screen on his phone to say it is correct.

Apologies if this has chsnged, but that’s how it worked in the summer

The definition of scorecard requires that the marker and the player must certify the scores either by physical signature or by a method of electronic certification approved by the Committee.

It follows, then, that if physical signatures are not used, then there must be an approved (by the Committee) method of electronic certification by both the marker and the player. Verbal certification by either party would not meet the requirement.

Most of the guys I play with in a swindle use EG for a GP card. We just have to name the attester and they get a message on their phone to confirm the score.
You have to name the attester and when the attester receives the message there is a box to sign and an approve button by them.

That is not how the EG app works and committee's do not in any case have anyway of checking those signatures. The fact that a member has attested the score via a password protected personnal account is sufficient. In any case the signature does not appear on the EG portal for administrators so cannot be checked.

Cheers, it was definitely there in July, hence why I asked if it had been removed in an update.👍🏻

Player's signature and attester details are shown on the WHS admin platform, which handicap committees (should) have access to.
